The celebration of the XX 2021 Papua National Sports Week will begin immediately from October 2 to October 15, 2021. Even though it was carried out in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, the government provided strict protection for the athletes and the XX PON venue. As has been done previously, the government ensures that all athletes who will compete at PON XX have been vaccinated and quarantined first upon arrival. The venue used has also been maximized in tightening its health protocols to avoid the Covid-19 pandemic.
The chairman of the XX 2020 National Sports Week (PON) for Papua Province, Otniel Deda, emphasized that the XX Papua PON was held as an effort to show achievements to athletes who have a myriad of talents and will be able to make offerings that make the Indonesian people proud on Earth Cenderawasih. The existence of this activity is also a forum for athletes to give their best to appear on the national stage.
As Indonesians, we must build a strong attitude of optimism in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, which is still the country’s main problem. Even in a critical situation, the government continues to provide the best forum for its people, considering that people also need interesting and inspiring content to build a strong immune system. Therefore, the existence of the XX Papua PON is expected so that talented athletes in the Earth of Cendrawasih can spread their wings as wide as possible.
And for the community, they can also participate in the success of the five-year sports event which was postponed a year ago by helping maintain security in the local area. With an attitude of solidarity, the community can build a spirit of optimism in the midst of the critical situation of the Covid-19 pandemic by providing support and positive spirit for the nation through the success of PON XX Papua.
Therefore, the organizers also asked all Indonesian people to jointly succeed in organizing the PON in Papua, especially the committee has worked hard to welcome all guests who will come to Papua.
