The General Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) invites all first-time voters, who are the young generation of the Indonesian nation, to get to know all the participants in the upcoming 2024 election better before finally deciding who they want to vote for in the upcoming democratic party.

Bawaslu member, Lolly Suhenty, invited first-time voters, especially those from Islamic boarding school circles, to also play a more active role in supervising the entire process and series of the upcoming General Election.

According to him, the implementation of political contestation also belongs to all groups, including novice voters who are the younger generation and also belongs to the Islamic boarding school students as well. Therefore, it is very important that all parties are able to understand and also monitor the implementation of the election so that vote manipulation does not occur.

It cannot be denied that in their first experience when trying to determine their vote in a voting booth, first-time voters may experience confusion. Therefore, they should not make mistakes in determining who the future leader of the nation will be.

So that novice voters do not make the wrong choice in the future, they should all be able to dig up as much information as possible regarding the voting mechanism, and the most important thing is to dig up information about who the leader candidate they want to choose is.

Bawaslu hopes that the votes that come from first-time voters do not come from other people’s influence or simply follow along with certain groups, but rather that the votes they produce are pure votes from their own heart’s choice.

The reason is that the votes that will be contributed by first-time voters will clearly determine the future fate of the Indonesian nation and also the fate of upholding the principles of democracy in the country in the future, so don’t let these votes be the result of intervention by any party.

Bawaslu of Sambas Regency, West Kalimantan (Kalbar) also continues to intensify the same thing. Chairperson of the West Kalimantan Bawaslu, Yesi Mayasanti, invited all first-time voters in the border areas, namely Sajingkan Besar, Indonesia – Sarawak, Malaysia, to be able to participate and oversee every process of the general election.

For him, first-time voters are able to become monitoring volunteers and can ensure that the democratic party runs as it should. If, for example, there is something suspicious or violating, Bawaslu urges young people to report it as soon as possible to election officials in their respective villages through the village supervisory committee.

It is also important to convey to first-time voters that they should not be taken in by the various negative campaigns circulating on social media, including from certain election participants or winning teams. Newbie voters are also expected not to spread information that cannot be confirmed as true.

Some of the characteristics of a negative campaign are when there is spread of fake news, then in this case there are elements of hate speech and also information that is not valid at all or is not actually issued by the authorities who are actually authorized, then usually the information will be multi-interpreted, conjectural, conclusions that are wrong and may remain factual but offend other group entities.

Regarding the strategy for suppressing negative issues that continue to appear on the surface, Bawaslu is also intensifying literacy regarding the campaign so as not to spread hoax news, as well as clarification and appeals to avoid the spread of negative issues. Monitoring on various social media platforms continues to be carried out to take action against violators who commit violations.

Socialization is also being intensified by the General Election Commission (KPU) which is conducting outreach to as many as 160 senior high school students in Fakfak Regency, West Papua. Coordinator of the Fakfak KPU’s Socialization, Voter Education, Community Participation and Human Resources Division, Nur Hasmiah, said that the aim of holding this socialization was to provide a series of information to first-time voters related to the implementation of the 2024 Election.

Other outreach was also carried out by the Banjar City KPU which carried out outreach to hundreds of first-time voters. They are collaborating with journalists to provide outreach on how to prevent hoax news regarding the 2024 Election.

The fate of this nation is in the hands of the younger generation, who will become first-time voters in the upcoming 2024 elections. Therefore, the future of this nation’s good future is also a shared responsibility, so first-time voters should really know for sure who the leader they want to choose is, not from invitations from other parties or accompanied by intervention. , but purely from the results of research conducted and originating from each individual’s conscience.
