Chairman of the Bogor Regency KPU: Application for Transfer to Select STIN Students is in Accordance with Law & PKPU

Bogor – Chairman of the Bogor Regency General Election Commission (KPU) Muhammad Adi Kurnia said that students at the State Intelligence College (STIN) legally have the right to vote which is regulated in accordance with the applicable laws and General Election Commission Regulations (PKPU).

“Regarding the right to vote, STIN students have the right to vote in accordance with the KPU Law and Regulations. “Because of that, the Bogor Regency KPU handed over forms for the right to move to vote to them,” emphasized Muhammad in Bogor, West Java, Wednesday (14/2).

Muhammad added that STIN students had completed the original STIN documents regarding assignment letters, so that they could certainly have the right to vote. This is also a clarification of the video circulating in various media, including social media, regarding STIN students carrying out the voting rights process at the Bogor Regency DPT.

Previously, on January 19 2024, STIN had coordinated with the Bogor Regency KPU to propose a transfer to select STIN students who were originally registered in their respective areas of residence to the Bogor Regency area, because they were on study assignments.

The procedures taken by STIN are in accordance with the letter from the Chair of the KPU to the Chair of the Regency/Municipal KPU Number: 695/PL.01-SD/14/2023 dated 7 July 2023 regarding preparations for the preparation of the Additional Voter List (DPTb) domestically and abroad.

On this basis, the application for moving to elect 1,020 STIN students was declared valid by the Bogor Regency KPU on February 12 2024. After being declared valid, these STIN students carried out voting on Wednesday 14 February 2024 at the polling stations determined by the Bogor Regency KPU.

Regarding the use of the name of the Bina Nusantara Informatics Polytechnic campus by STIN students, it is only as a “cover”, because the identities of all STIN students are confidential. This is in accordance with Article 25 of Law Number 17 of 2011 concerning State Intelligence
