Prabowo Subianto, the figure who became President-elect in the 2024 general election, has set four priority programs aimed at improving people’s welfare. These programs will not only have a direct impact on society, but will also continue the direction of development that has been pioneered by President Joko Widodo. Thus, the leadership transition is expected to run smoothly and ensure that efforts to improve national welfare continue.
The first program that will be run by the Prabowo-Gibran government is a free nutritious meal program. The program is intended to provide nutritional support to pregnant women, nursing mothers, toddlers, and students at all levels of education.
With a budget allocation of Rp 71 trillion in the first phase in 2025, the program is expected to reduce stunting rates and improve the health quality of the nation’s next generation. This step is in line with President-elect Prabowo’s vision to ensure that every citizen has access to adequate nutritional needs.
Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati assessed that the program is a significant step in addressing health and nutrition challenges in Indonesia. She also emphasized that the government is ready to support the implementation of the free nutritious meal program with the right budget allocation.
In addition, Sri Mulyani reported that the Prabowo-Gibran government will also soon start a free health check-up program targeting 52.2 million people. This examination includes blood pressure, blood sugar, and x-rays to detect catastrophic diseases. Through this step, the new government seeks to reduce the death rate from serious diseases through early detection.
In addition to focusing on health, the Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka administration also allocated a budget for school renovation. The program aims to repair classrooms, furniture, and sanitation facilities with a budget of Rp 20.3 trillion.
The renovation program will involve the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), and the Ministry of Religion.
President-elect from the 2024 Election, Prabowo believes that investment in education is the key to building a better future for Indonesia. Quality education and adequate school facilities will encourage the creation of a smart and productive young generation.
Budiman Sudjatmiko, a politician who also supports the President-elect’s vision, highlighted the importance of continuing infrastructure development under the Prabowo-Gibran administration. According to Budiman, President-elect Prabowo understands very well that the existence of a nation is very dependent on the strength of existing infrastructure.
Solid infrastructure will strengthen Indonesia’s position in the international arena and ensure even connectivity throughout the region. Budiman added that maintaining the infrastructure that has been built by President Jokowi is a commitment that will be continued by President-elect Prabowo to ensure that development runs sustainably.
The fourth priority program of the Prabowo-Gibran government is to build national food barns in various regions and villages. The program will be run by the PUPR Ministry and the Agriculture Ministry with the aim of increasing Indonesia’s food security.
The construction of the food barn will help rural communities to be more independent in terms of food availability, thereby reducing dependence on food imports. With that, Indonesia is expected to achieve better food self-sufficiency in the next few years.
Member of Commission V of the House of Representatives, Irwan Fecho, said that President Joko Widodo is confident that Prabowo Subianto will continue the downstreaming and development program for the National Capital City (IKN) that he pioneered during his term of office.
The downstreaming and continuation of the development of the IKN are included in Asta Cita, which is one of the 17 priority programs that have been set by the General Chairperson of the DPP Gerindra Party. The sustainability of the development of the IKN and downstreaming are considered strategic steps to encourage Indonesia to become a more independent and globally competitive country.
President Jokowi’s belief that President-elect Prabowo is capable of continuing these major projects is based on the shared vision between the two leaders in advancing Indonesia.
Downstreaming the industry will increase added value for domestic products, while the development of the IKN will create a new economic center outside Java. Irwan Fecho assessed that the continuation of these two projects will be one of the indicators of the success of the new government in improving the welfare of the people as a whole.
With four priority programs covering the health, education, infrastructure, and food security sectors, the Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka administration has shown a strong commitment to continuing the development pioneered by President Jokowi.
The synergy between the two leaders provides hope that people’s welfare will continue to increase, and Indonesia will be stronger in facing global challenges in the future. The sustainability of this planned development is expected to bring positive changes to all levels of society, from urban to remote villages.
