The government continues to carry out various kinds of infrastructure improvements, one of which is by improving the quality of roads and repainting a number of roads in Jakarta ahead of the 43rd Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN Summit). This shows the government’s strong commitment to give the best after being given the confidence to host an international event again.

The 43rd ASEAN Summit will be held on 5-7 September 2023 in Jakarta, which will be attended by ASEAN leaders and leaders of ASEAN partner countries. In the meeting between countries in ASEAN, it is also planned to discuss the development and strengthening of cooperation of all ASEAN member countries with their external partners.

Of course, Indonesia, which is once again trusted to host a major international event such as the Summit, will make every effort to provide the best to all invited guests. Therefore, ahead of the ASEAN Summit itself, a number of Public Infrastructure and Facilities Officers (PPSU) were immediately deployed to carry out repainting along the Pedestrian road on Jalan DI Panjaitan, East Jakarta. Not half-hearted, as many as 77 officers from PPSU Cipinang Besar Subdistrict were deployed to repaint the work.

It is not only limited to maintenance by repainting, but the Government of Indonesia is really strongly committed to providing the best and currently there are lots of preparations being made carefully so that all implementation of the high-level conference can run very smoothly.

Jalan HR Rasuna Said was also being repaired with far more excellent quality, which was reported by the Jakarta Special Capital Region (DKI) Bina Marga Service, which stated that it was constructing a new layer. In the construction of the new layer on Jalan HR Rasuna Said, they used the construction of a new layer with a hotmix layer type or a hot mix asphalt aggregate mixture with good quality.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Bina Marga Service and the Highways and Bridges Sector have also carried out field visits directly regarding the road repairs, namely on H. Rasuna Said to Kuningan in South Jakarta. Several corrective steps have been carried out since July 13 2023. In fact, construction has also been seen near the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Station building.

In the review that was carried out, the Acting Head of the Highways Service, Heru Suwondo, accompanied by the Head of the Roads and Obstacles Division and all their staff, carried out an inspection of the progress of the road repairs being carried out, which will be one of the access points to get to Gelora Bung. Karno (GBK), which will later become one of the venues for the 2023 ASEAN Summit.

The government’s swift action was not just planning, but direct execution on the ground. It has been seen that heavy equipment has been deployed to scratch the old asphalt layer on the road section. Road workers wearing yellow project helmets were also seen around there to carry out road repairs until late at night.

The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta itself has a very strong commitment to continue to carry out various kinds of infrastructure improvements, one of which is in a number of roads, which is part of how optimal preparations are made by this nation towards the 43rd ASEAN Summit. .

The first stage of repairs was carried out on the road from Ratu Plaza to the Bank Indonesia (BI) red light. Then, the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta, Heru Budi Hartono, also carried out a direct inspection of the road repair process in front of Ratu Plaza, Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Central Jakarta.

By repairing a number of these roads, it can increase the comfort and smoothness of travel for member delegates and all ASEAN partners while in Jakarta. Of course, this improvement step is a serious follow-up to the government’s efforts to respond to citizen complaints regarding road conditions in Jakarta to further support mobility for all road users. The existence of all improvements to infrastructure such as roads in Jakarta, is a concrete manifestation of the strong commitment of the central government, which is also working together with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and many other parties to really provide the best for the implementation of the 43rd ASEAN Summit.
