The General Election Commission of the Republic of Indonesia (KPU RI) ordered all Voting Committees (PPS) in the implementation of Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) to always maintain integrity, professionalism and neutrality.
The reason is, by maintaining these three things, it means that the election organizers truly uphold the application of the principles of democracy, justice and honesty in Indonesia.
In this way, the political contestation event in November 2024 will run smoothly, minimizing the possibility of disruption. For this reason, the role of all parties, especially PPS itself, is very important so that they always maintain their integrity, professionalism and neutrality.
Head of the Human Resources, Organization, Education and Training, and Research and Development Division of the Indonesian KPU, Parsadaan Harahap, reminded all his staff to remain professional and also continue to maintain integrity, especially in recruiting both the Voting Election Committee (PPS) and the Voting Committee. Voting (PPS).
It is very important that during the recruitment process, all parties continue to carry out and also comply with existing regulations so that nothing deviates from what should happen.
This is because of the process of recruiting PPS to PPK members, if it continues to prioritize a process with integrity, then it is not impossible that the democratic party will also be full of people who have integrity, so that democratization in Indonesia continues to run optimally. .
If starting from the recruitment of members of the Voting Committee, high levels of integrity continue to be implemented, this will also have an impact on the final results of the Voting Election. Moreover, the momentum of the Pilkada itself is also a very important one and continues to attract public attention.
On the other hand, if, for example, the process of forming an ad hoc body for the simultaneous regional head elections in November 2024 proceeds with a lack of integrity, then the public will no longer trust the election organizers.
For this reason, the General Election Commission not only prepares mature regulations, but also prepares various kinds of technical regulations and technical instructions (juknis) regarding how to form PPS and PPK so that the principles of integrity, professionalism and neutrality are well maintained.
The Indonesian KPU also continues to remind all levels in the regions to really be able to focus and be serious in the recruitment process for the ad hoc body for the 2024 simultaneous regional elections. Don’t let anyone think that the recruitment process is trivial or unimportant.
In fact, from the recruitment process of colleagues who become ad hoc body organizers, their role is very important and has a very strategic function in the implementation of the democratic party in Indonesia.
How the KPU continues to emphasize that all recruitment processes in various regions continue to prioritize integrity, one of which is reflected in the Sumenep General Election Commission which appointed up to 1,002 voting committees (PPS).
The existence of the PPS will carry out their duties to make the 2024 (Pilkada) event a success in their respective regions, both in the election of governor and deputy governor as well as in the election of regent and deputy regent or mayor and deputy mayor.
Very firmly, the Chairman of the Sumenep KPU, Rahbini asked all PPS ranks who had just been appointed so that they always carry out their duties and authority as best as possible.
The benchmark for how to carry out their duties and authority well is when the Voting Committee is able to continue to maintain their integrity, professionalism and neutrality and can obey or be upright and not violate the existing rules at all. Because in this way an election will be created. general who upholds the principles of Luber and Jurdil, namely direct, general, free, confidential, honest and fair.
He is very confident and optimistic that the appointed PPS have good capacity and abilities. Not without reason, because recruitment is carried out through a long and selective process.
Not only in Sumenep, but the KPU in other regions such as Medan, North Sumatra Province also continues to remind the 453 PPS members spread across 151 sub-districts so that they all continue to maintain their integrity, loyalty, professionalism and totality in their work.
The Chairperson of the Medan City KPU, Mutia Atiqah, said that of course as members of the Voting Committee, they must be able to continue to maintain their independence as election organizers, so that they cannot be partial and must continue to act fairly.
To truly ensure that all stages of the 2024 Regional Head Election (Pilkada) run smoothly, the Indonesian KPU ordered all its staff, namely PPS to PPK, to always maintain their integrity, professionalism and neutrality.
