Papua Youth Creative Hub Forms a Commitment for Developing Papuan Countries
Papua – Concern for improving the quality of Human Resources (HR) for the Papuan people given by the Government is not trivial. This is reflected in the development of the Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) as one of the Government’s efforts to support the role of the younger generation in managing Papua’s economic potential.
Through collaboration between the Central Government and Regional Governments, the construction of PYCH in a number of locations in the Papua region was successfully realized. Previously, the Regional Government of Manokwari Regency, West Papua Province, granted 2 hectares of land to BIN to construct a PYCH building in Manokwari.
According to Deputy Regent of Manokwari, Edi Budoyo, the land that was granted was located in Sowi Village, South Manokwari District, Manokwari Regency, or to be precise, in the former Learning Activity Center (SKB) in South Manokwari District.
“Land grants for Inspiring Young Papua (PMI) activities are things that can accommodate the ideas and creativity of Papuan youths for the betterment of the land of Papua itself,” said Edi.
PMI administrator Kevin Baldwin Aburyaan believes there are many young Papuans who have great talent and potential that need to be honed. Therefore, it is hoped that the construction of PYCH will become the driving force as well as the center for developing human resources, especially young talents in Papua.
“The development of PYCH is a center for the development of young talents which is projected to be a place to gather outstanding young human resources in Papua from various disciplines. Through PYCH, it is hoped that young people can contribute to reducing unemployment and poverty,” said Kevin.
The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Papua Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW), the Directorate General of Cipta Karya supports the infrastructure development of the Papua Youth Creative Hub located on Jalan Poros Abepura. Built on an area of 15,000 m2, PYCH has a main building area of 3,520 m2 and 1,812 m2 of supporting buildings.
The construction of the PYCH building, which was initiated by PMI with support from BIN, is now expected to become a center for self-development of the talents and creativity of young people in Papua. It is also hoped that the creativity that so far has been possessed by young Papuan friends can emerge on the national and international stage.
With the construction of the PYCH building, it is hoped that the welfare of the people in the Land of Papua will be realized in accordance with Presidential Instruction Number 9 of 2020 concerning the Acceleration of Welfare Development in Papua and West Papua Provinces.
PYCH is believed to be able to become a driving force and function as a center for the development of young talents in Papua. In addition, PYCH can act as a center of creativity for young Papuans in strengthening a good innovation and technology ecosystem.
