PBESI Aims for 4 Gold Medals in the E-Sports Branch at the 2023 SEA Games

Jakarta – Chief Executive of the Indonesian Esports Executive Board (PBESI) Bambang Sunarwibowo stated that the Indonesian Esports National Team is aiming for a minimum of four gold and two silver medals at the SEA Games in Cambodia 2023.

“Athletes and coaches have prepared themselves to achieve maximum performance at the 2023 SEA Games,” he said during a press conference at the PBESI Office in Jakarta, Wednesday (3/5/2023).

According to him, the selection program has been carried out, so it is hoped that it can be carried out as well as possible, even training and various matches with the best countries have been carried out. However, there are also countries that need to be anticipated, namely the defending champions Vietnam and the Philippines.

“The result is a good increase in esports athletes. Therefore, we are optimistic that of the six numbers that we will participate in at the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games, we can win at least four gold and two silver medals out of the 9 gold contested. But we can increase this target by becoming the overall champion, “he said.

The Indonesian Esports National Team will take part in six of the nine numbers that will be contested and it is believed that the six numbers will win medals. The games being contested at the SEA Games this time are Crossfire, Valorant, PUBG Mobile, Mobile Legends, Attack Online 2, and League of Legends.

“I believe that in the souls of our athletes we have the mentality of fighters and warriors. The champion must be embedded within. Teamwork should always be perfected. Don’t let the negligence of small things interfere with your match,” said Bambang.

He also hopes that the coaches must always improve so that athletes can compete as well as possible. Discipline and control are important, don’t waste the golden opportunity that exists.

“We must be able to bring pride to the Indonesian nation,” he said.

Regarding bonuses, PBESI has prepared them for athletes who are able to win medals. The total bonus that will be given is IDR 5 billion.

Meanwhile, a total of 38 athletes who have entered accreditation and will soon be leaving for Cambodia, including the coaches.
