The Government is Committed to Realizing Peaceful Elections in 2024

The text of the 2024 Peaceful Election Declaration was officially signed by three presidential and vice presidential candidates. The text contains three important points that election participants must adhere to. Starting from the election which is expected to be fair, peaceful, without money politics, to its implementation in accordance with the provisions of the law.

Chairman of the Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU), Hasyim Asy’ari read the contents of the text which explained that election participants must realize direct, general, free, secret and fair elections. Furthermore, carrying out an election campaign that is safe, orderly, peaceful, with integrity, without hoaxes, without politicization of votes, and without money politics. And finally, carrying out election campaigns based on applicable laws and regulations. Hasyim wants all participants to prioritize the rules in the 2024 election process. So, no party will ignore this.

Previously, the three presidential and vice presidential candidate pairs had previously signed a declaration of peaceful, orderly and law-abiding campaigning for the 2024 election participants by Bawaslu. The signing of the declaration of a peaceful, orderly and law-abiding campaign for the 2024 Election participants was carried out at the Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) of the Integrated Election Law Enforcement Center (Gakkumdu).

Apart from the presidential and vice presidential candidates, 18 political parties (Parpol) also read out the campaign declaration for the 2024 peaceful elections led by the Secretary General of PKS, Aboe Bakar Al-Habsyi. The political parties participating in the 2024 Election that took part in the declaration include the National Awakening Party (PKB), the Gerindra Party, the Golkar Party, the Nasdem Party, the Labor Party and the Gelora Party.

Then the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), Nusantara Awakening Party (PKN), Hanura Party, Garuda Party, National Mandate Party (PAN), Crescent Star Party (PBB), Democratic Party, Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Perindo Party, Ummat Party , as well as the United Development Party (PPP).

Other parties such as the National Police, Attorney General’s Office and related stakeholders also signed the pact. They were asked to ensure that the elections were held peacefully. The KPU has also set the 2024 election campaign period from Tuesday, November 28 2023 to February 10 2024. Meanwhile, the voting schedule is February 14 2024.

Apart from that, ahead of the 2024 Election Peace Campaign Declaration activities, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Transportation Service is carrying out traffic engineering to support these activities. Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub), Syafrin Liputo, said that the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency will close and divert traffic around the KPU Building from 12.00 to 18.00 WIB.

Traffic from the east or Cikini to the west or HI Roundabout is diverted via Jalan Hos Cokroaminoto-Jalan Moch, Yamin-Jalan Agus Salim-Jalan Imam Bonjol or via Jalan Taman Suropati-Jalan Teuku Umar Jalan Moch, Yamin-Jalan Agus Salim-Jalan Imam Bonjol and so on.

Then traffic from the south or Kuningan to the west or HI Roundabout is diverted via Jalan Hos Cokroaminoto-Jalan Moch Yamin-Jalan Agus Salim-Jalan Imam Bonjol or from Sunda Kelapa via Jalan Taman Suropati-Jalan Teuku Umar-Jalan Moch, Yamin-Jalan Agus Salim-Jalan Imam Bonjol and so on.

Traffic from the west or HI Roundabout to the east or Cikini is diverted via Jalan Imam Bonjol-Jalan Agus Salim-Jalan Sutan Syahrir-and so on. Meanwhile, traffic from the north or Menteng to the west or the HI Roundabout is diverted via Jalan Moch Yamin-Jalan Agus Salim-Jalan Imam Bonjol-and so on.

The DKI Transportation Agency appealed to road users to avoid this road section and to adjust the established traffic arrangements, obey traffic signs, instructions from officers in the field and prioritize road safety.

Not only the government and central officials, in order to support the implementation of safe and peaceful elections, Bhabinkamtibmas Dolok Police, South Tapanuli Police, Bripka Sigit Dalimunthe carried out face-to-face and face-to-face activities with the community.

During his visit, Bripka Sigit Dalimunthe invited the public not to be easily provoked by invitations that could be misleading. He said togetherness and friendly relations must be maintained. Elections are a valuable moment for all of us to voice our right to vote, and we need to undergo this process with full maturity and responsibility. With this activity, Bripka Sigit Dalimunthe wants to provide a sense of security and comfort to the community while building collective awareness of the importance of maintaining peace and unity in welcoming the elections.

To realize national ideals based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution, we need national leaders and regional leaders who have integrity, responsibility, competence and transparency in running the government, and are fully supported by the people. Therefore, we need an election instrument that takes place honestly, fairly, peacefully and with dignity. Thus, peaceful elections in accordance with principles and laws will undoubtedly produce capable, legitimate leaders and bring our nation to democratic maturity.
