The Indonesian government has begun to seriously develop the Eastern Region by presenting the New Autonomous Region (DOB) of Papua in order to improve public services and the welfare of the people of Papua. This is a form of government commitment in carrying out Indonesia’s equity.
The New Autonomous Region (DOB) which was expanded in Papua is one of the Indonesian Government’s seriousness for Cenderawasih Earth . Because it is still new, it is necessary to have complete supporting infrastructure that functions as a convenience for the community in carrying out their lives. Therefore, through these divisions, it is hoped that it will be easier for the Papuan people to enjoy the public services provided.
Of course this requires good cooperation , not only the Government of Indonesia and President Joko Widodo who have an important role in the formation of the New Autonomous Region (DOB) in Papua, important community leaders to ordinary civilians also have an important role in the presence of the new autonomous region . Thanks to their active support, the new autonomous region has finally come into being after being awaited for so long.
The development of the new autonomous region in Papua has been very well received by the indigenous Papuan people, because indeed with such development, they can easily enjoy the facilities that have been provided. The new autonomous regions are divided into 4 regions, namely Central Papua, Mountains Papua, South Papua and Southwest Papua.
Seeing this, a Papuan community leader named Saleh Sangadji acknowledged that the addition of the province opened up job opportunities for graduates in South Papua. The reason is, indeed with the opening of the new province, automatically government offices also need human resources. Thus, they also do not have to go far to fight for jobs in other areas.
Nevertheless, the indigenous Papuan people themselves have a good opportunity to show their potential and dedicate themselves to the Indonesian Nation. The expansion that the community has been waiting for has finally come true. This is indeed one of the proofs that the Government of Indonesia pays serious attention to Papua and the creation of Indonesia’s development as a whole.
What’s more, the presence of the Papua New Guinea was also followed by infrastructure developments such as roads. The presence of highways is indeed very important in an area to facilitate the mobility of local people. Moreover, the highway is a land route which is the main basis for human mobility, of course it is their basic need.
According to Mesakh Mirin, as a member of the DPR RI from the Papua Electoral District , he believes that the addition of the New Autonomous Region (DOB) for Papua will have an extraordinary positive impact on the community. The reach and access to transportation from the Regency to the Province will also be easier, so that this can also prosper the Papuan people themselves .
Regarding the welfare of the Papuan people , the presence of the Papua New Autonomous Region there has certainly made this welfare continue from time to time. Indonesia’s equitable development will also soon be realized. The existence of a lot of support from the local community which includes traditional leaders, religious leaders, and even civilians is what will be the success of the Papua New Guinea.
The infrastructure that supports the completeness of the Papua New Guinea has been planned. According to Tito Karnavian , Minister of Home Affairs, the Government of Indonesia has made a budget for infrastructure development in Papua which will start in October 2023. The infrastructure that will later be built in the four new autonomous regions includes roads, connecting roads between districts and provinces, and electricity infrastructure. Electricity can also be enjoyed by road users, making it easier for them to drive.
Vice President ( Wapres ) Ma’ruf Amin revealed that the new province in Papua is expected to bring basic services closer to the people of Papua. Apart from that, he also appreciates PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) for the contribution it has made to developments in Papua, particularly the Nemangkawi Mining Institute (IPN).
The presence of the IPN is a manifestation of the alignment of professional labor investment , namely indigenous Papuans. In fact , Ma’ruf Amin acknowledged that the qualifications for native Papuan workers have a good variety of skills .
Meanwhile, at times like this ahead of the upcoming 2024 elections, the Election Supervisory Body ( Bawaslu ) admits that it is easier to prepare a number of things with the presence of the new autonomous regions. In fact, they are collaborating with important figures in the area to prevent conflicts from occurring ahead of the upcoming 2024 elections. This anticipation is also needed because prominent figures in Papua have a very important role in the eyes of society.
Thanks to the existence of the New Autonomous Region (DOB) in Papua, the benefit of the local community will be guaranteed. Moreover, the new autonomous region, which is the seriousness of the Government of Indonesia, can get rid of the Java-centric stigma in society . In the end, all regions of Indonesia have experienced evenly distributed development without exception , even in remote areas . Thus, the entire Indonesian nation will become prosperous and in the future the level of disparity between one region and another can be ascertained to disappear.
