Maintaining harmony and respecting the 2024 election process is a shared responsibility as citizens of a democratic country. In a political atmosphere that is tense and full of differences of opinion, it is important to continue to uphold the values of unity and tolerance.

In the context of elections, this means respecting the right of every individual to express their opinions peacefully, as well as accepting the election results with grace.

The importance of maintaining harmony is also reflected in maintaining the integrity of the electoral process itself. An election process that is transparent, free from intimidation and without fraud is a strong foundation for public trust in the democratic system.

Therefore, active participation in election monitoring, reporting any violations, and respecting the decisions of authorized institutions are concrete steps that we can take to ensure a fair and democratic election process.

Political debates and celebrations dominated the atmosphere leading up to, during and after the 2024 elections. However, amidst the noisy political atmosphere, voices calling for peace, unity and oneness were also heard. Habib Syech bin Abdul Qodir Assegaf, a respected community figure, was one of those who emphasized the importance of maintaining harmony and respecting the election results.

Habib Syech, through a video recording uploaded by the National Police Public Relations Division, voiced a message of peace. He emphasized that although political differences of opinion may be inevitable, they should not prevent society from continuing to live in peace and harmony.

His call to resolve problems through deliberation and without new conflicts is an important highlight in the context of maintaining post-election social stability.

“Pancasila, the Republic of Indonesia, the 1945 Constitution, and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. “Let us live in harmony for the Indonesian nation,” his message was a call that not only reminded the importance of the four pillars of nationality, but also invited all elements of society to commit to maintaining harmony and harmony.

The 2024 elections, which took place on February 14, marked a democratic process that ran safely and peacefully. However, as we have seen in the past, sometimes the post-election atmosphere can be vulnerable to political and social tensions.

That is why voices calling for peace, such as those conveyed by Habib Syech, are becoming increasingly important to hear and live up to.

Kiai Marsudi Syuhud, Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), also added an important aspect in the context of maintaining post-election harmony. He invited the public to remain calm and patient while waiting for the official results from the General Election Commission (KPU). Patience and respect for the process are the keys to building a conducive atmosphere.

Apart from that, Kiai Marsudi also highlighted the importance of mutual respect for differences. Even though political choices may be different, as one nation, we still have a responsibility to maintain unity and integrity. Differences of opinion should not prevent us from continuing to view each other with compassion and appreciation.

The post-election momentum is also a moment for the government and various institutions to ensure that the democratic process runs smoothly and transparently. Victory or defeat in elections is part of the dynamics of democracy, and all parties must be ready to accept the results with grace. All of this is part of the process of building a more politically mature country.

However, the responsibility to maintain harmony does not only lie on the shoulders of the government or religious leaders alone. We all, as Indonesian people, have a role in ensuring that the post-election atmosphere remains conducive and peaceful. Every individual has the power to contribute to building a harmonious environment.

The Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) of Central Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi Province (Sulbar), through its regional head, Muhammad Dinar Faisal, gave an appeal to the community to maintain harmony.

Political differences should not be an excuse to destroy the relationships between citizens that have been built over time. More than that, the role of state civil servants (ASN) and religious instructors is also very important in spreading messages of peace and unity.

Through various voices that are peaceful and promote harmony, we can emphasize that the strength of a nation lies not only in its political success, but also in the strength of its social and cultural networks. Differences of opinion are inevitable in a democratic society, but the ability to respect these differences is what makes a nation great.

Post-2024 elections, Indonesia is faced with big challenges in maintaining unity and respecting differences. However, through the peaceful voices and calls to maintain harmony that we have heard from various figures, we have a strong foundation for building a more harmonious future.

Let us all, as Indonesian citizens, commit to continuing to strengthen ties of brotherhood, respect the democratic process, and become agents of change that build this nation towards a better direction. In this way, we can ensure that Indonesia remains a home for all its citizens, a place where peace and unity are the main pillars of development.
