BPJSThe labor division of the Social Security Agency (Employment BPJS) said it is ready for full operation beginning July 1, utilizing 291 branch offices established across Indonesia.

“We just launched the grand openings of 150 new pioneer offices and 53 branch offices that have been operating since 2014,” the agency’s president director Elvyn G. Masassya said yesterday, June 15.

According to Masassya, the branch offices will provide access for the public to enroll in the agency’s program.

“This is a way to increase the number of participants as well as provide services that are more accessible,” he said.

Most of the pioneer branch offices are located in Sulawesi and Maluku, totaling at 29 branches. In Jakarta, the BPJS only built five new offices.

Masassya made sure that the Government Regulation draft on Pension Insurance is final and had been sent to President Joko Widodo. The pension premium is proposed at eight percent, five percent, and 1.5 percent.

Suryo Bambang Sulistyo, chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, hopes that there will be a solution to the disagreement on the mandatory premium rate. He requested that the premium amount will not burden employers that are currently facing hard times due to the rupiah correction and slowing economy.

“If the pension premium is set at eight percent, there is fear that it would make things increasingly difficult for the business world,” Suryo said
