Supporting the Relocation of Capital City for the Equalization of Development
The Government and Parliament continue to accelerate the realization of the transfer of the National Capital to Kalimantan Island. In addition to being able to stimulate the growth of new economic centers, the relocation of the National Capital is believed to be able to realize equitable development which has been centered on Java, especially Jakarta.
In 2019, DKI Jakarta was even 492 years old, and remained a special charm for the people of Indonesia, and even seemed to be a solution for job seekers.
The name of the capital city, of course Jakarta has carved a variety of development achievements, although it is also inseparable from various issues, especially those related to population problems.
Congestion in Jakarta has become a sign that the city of Jakarta is already very dense, even river banks have become settlements that are flooded almost every year.
For this reason, the central government is trying to find a replacement for the national capital region, besides being safer from disasters, the new capital is also considered as one of the efforts to equalize development in Indonesia.
Jakarta itself has been dubbed a concrete forest, how can not high-rise buildings have been plural we see, apartments and malls are also scattered everywhere.
If later Jakarta is not the capital of the State of Indonesia anymore, it does not mean that the intensity of business in Jakarta will be sluggish, because the relocation of the capital is only for government, executive, legislative and judicial affairs, while business affairs remain in Jakarta.
University of Indonesia (UI) Urban Sociology Specialist Paulu Wirutomo said, if a city is approaching densities that are already very dangerous to people’s lives, then it is better to look for ways to spread so that a city can develop again. The most effective strategy of population distribution according to him is by relocating the capital city.
The government has also established Penajam Paser Utara and Kutai Kartanegara, East Kalimantan Province as the location of the new capital city.
The new capital development masterplan is expected to be completed in 2020. Physically, the government is targeting to be completed in 2024. That means, the government will focus on meeting the set time targets.
Stephanus Koeswandi, as Vice President of PT Tata Logam, said the relocation of the capital city was a momentum for construction service entrepreneurs to prove that Indonesia was also able to build infrastructure in a relatively short time.
Former DKI Jakarta Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat, also expressed his support for the planned move of the capital to East Kalimantan. He mentioned that the transfer could have a positive impact on Jakarta.
According to him, this could have an impact on the increasingly heavy capacity of Jakarta. Therefore, with the planned removal of the Capital City, it is hoped that this will have an impact on regional equity in Indonesia.
On the previous occasion, the City Planning expert, Yayat Supriatna, said that moving the State Capital out of Java would have an extraordinary economic impact, namely increasing national economic growth by 0.1% to 0.2%.
He also stated that the removal of the National Capital could reduce regional disparities. The relocation of the capital outside Java can certainly encourage trade between regions, especially trade between Java and regions outside Java, and between regions outside Java.
The national capital is certainly a barometer of other cities in Indonesia, of course the new capital must be able to reflect a civilization rooted in the pluralistic cultural values of Indonesian people based on Pancasila values.
The Capital Transfer Plan also received support from the Independent Social Media Activists Forum (FPMSI), the party supported the discourse of moving the Capital to East Kalimantan.
According to Hafyz as the coordinator of FPMSI, the relocation of the Indonesian capital will be part of the acceleration of improving the quality of human resources (HR), increasing economic growth and welfare distribution.
Therefore, FPMSI expressed its support for the government related to the removal of the Capital City by the government.
According to him, the capital city is a representation of the progress of a nation, so the transfer must be carried out in order to realize economic equality and justice. He also added that citizens are ready to maintain and support national development for the progress of the nation and state.
The process of moving the capital city of the country has also been discussed through a lengthy study, including studies from the administrative side, the composition of the government, regional autonomy to the boundaries of the capital city later.
With the relocation of the Capital City, the acceleration of development in many sectors will increasingly show positive progress, both in terms of HR development to economic growth.
