KADIN: Omnibus Law Is A Breakthrough to Make Economy Grow Better
DKI Jakarta Chamber of Commerce Deputy Board Deputy Chairman Sarman Simanjorang said the simplification of the regulation or Omnibus Law was an extraordinary breakthrough made by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) so that the economy would grow and impact the wider community.
According to him not only investment but, simplification of the 72 laws and thousands of articles that have entered the Parliament in the Work Cipta Karya will have an impact on all lines of the economy.
“The question of pros and cons certainly exists, but what needs to be conveyed is that the substance of the Omnibus Law is not only the interests of the business world but there are also labor interests,” Sarman said in a special dialogue with the theme ‘Urgency of the Omnibus Law in Boosting the Economy,’ Monday, 24 February 2020.
He said basically what the Government is doing now is not only burdensome to the business world and also the workers. On the contrary it is mutually beneficial to all parties.
Therefore, the Chairperson of DKI Jakarta’s HPPI also emphasized that not supporting Omnibus Law would actually be a setback, even though this simplification was a new revolution carried out by the Government.
For example, he said, in the middle of a meat war between the United States and China, Indonesia was expected to receive investment but in reality the investment fled to Vietnam.
“Why in Vietnam, because there guarantees certainty in investment regulations and others,” he said.
Sarman hopes that all parties can provide advice and be included in the Cipta Karya Omnibus Law Bill. So when the law is passed, there is no polemic anymore. Because it has been implemented well.
“The most important thing is that our business climate is also getting better and investment is getting more crowded into Indonesia and able to boost the national economy,” he said.
