LIVE A BETTER LIFE WITH NEW NORMAL

237

The new normal scenario, or a new lifestyle that adapts to the Covid-19 pandemic, is now a tug of war. Various preparations for the new normal are being carried out by the government, although a number of indicators say Indonesia is not yet fit to enter this phase. Public discipline in implementing health protocols is the key to new normal applications. Therefore the government mobilized the TNI and Polri to discipline the public. As many as 30 to 40 thousand TNI personnel were deployed in four provinces and 25 districts / cities. They are distributed in 1,800 crowded places such as markets and malls. If effective, the deployment of the TNI and Polri will be widened to other areas.

Within the SOE environment, employees must prepare to return to the office after SOE Minister Erick Thohir issued Circular Letter Number S-336 / MBU / 05/2020 concerning Anticipation of The New Normal BUMN Scenario after the Eid. The Secretary of the Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucracy Reform, Dwi Wahyu Atmaji, said his ministry would publish new normal scenario rules for the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) this week. The ASN work system will change with this rule. Responding to the new normal condition, a number of shopping centers, especially in DKI Jakarta are preparing to reopen their outlets.

So is this new normal era good news for the Indonesian economy? According to Yusuf Rendy Manilet, Center of Reform on Economics (CORE) Economist, it depends on Indonesia’s readiness to coexist with the Corona virus, which until now has no vaccine. When viewed from an economic point of view, ongoing lockdown activities will certainly have adverse effects on the economy so that inevitably the government must take a middle ground, including with large-scale social restrictions and new normal program discourse. But if Indonesia turns out to be not ready to face the new normal, the existing will trigger a second wave of COVID-19, aka making positive cases of Corona virus soaring. Even countries that have succeeded in implementing the new normal are still affected by the second wave. Then as a good society, what should we do to respond to this? The answer is of course by participating in any program launched by the government. This is because the program launched by the government has conducted in-depth studies and evaluations so that it is good for the community. New Normal is a middle way so that Indonesia is not hit by the economic crisis after Covid – 19 subsided. If this program is successfully carried out, it is hoped that the Indonesian economy will run, as well as the declining spread of Covid – 19.
