The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD said the government considered the extraordinary congress or the Democrat KLB in Deli Serdang as an internal party problem. The government also does not have the authority to intervene in the party’s problems.
The Democrat Party Ordinary Area Congress (KLB) has been in the mass media coverage lately. Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD that the Government cannot intervene in these activities. Mahfud explained that the KLB would become a legal problem if the results were registered with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. Until now, Mahfud said there had been no reports or requests for new legal legality from the democratic party to the government. So, the current government only deals with the security angle, not the legality of the party.
If the results of the KLB are registered by the Democrats, the government will examine its validity based on the party’s laws and statutes.
Regarding the implementation of the KLB, Mahfud said that according to Law Number 9 of 1998, the government could not prohibit or encourage activities on behalf of Democratic Party cadres in Deli Serdang.
He then compared the attitude of Megawati Soekarnoputri’s government when Matori Abdul Jalil took Gus Dur’s National Awakening Party (PKB). Matori later lost in court in 2003. At that time, Megawati did not legally prohibit or encourage because she considered it an internal problem of PKB.
According to Mahfud, since the era of Megawati, SBY to Jokowi, the government has never banned the KLB or extraordinary munas which are considered a splinter because they respect the independence of political parties. The risk is that the government is accused of washing hands, but if it prohibits or encourages it, it can be accused of divisive intervention.
On a different occasion, Chairman of the DPP Democrat Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), met with the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Mahfud MD.
During the meeting, AHY thanked Mahfud. He also spoke about the current condition of the Democratic Party.
He said that he had already held a Democrat Party alert to address previous problems. AHY also visited the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. He submitted a number of documents including the Democrat AD / ART which had been ratified by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in 2020.
On a different occasion, Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) Yasona Laoly spoke up about the chaos of the Democratic Party. According to him, his party had received the arrival of AHY and his staff who reported the Democrat KLB in Deli Serdang as an illegal activity.
Yassona said that his party had received the arrival of AHY and his staff who reported the Democrat KLB in Deli Serdang as an illegal activity.
He revealed that his party still considered the chaos with the Democrats as an internal party problem. Because, until now, Moeldoko’s Democrats have not yet submitted any KLB results to the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
Meanwhile, a number of parties urged the Presidential Chief of Staff (KSP) Moeldoko to resign from his position. This pressure was a response to Moeldoko’s involvement in the Extraordinary Democratic Party Congress (KLB) which took place in Deli Serdang.
Responding to this, KSP Main Expert Ali Mochtar Ngabalin asked all parties not to patronize and take care of their respective affairs.
He also asked all parties not to be envious and full of revenge. He also believes that Moeldoko understands the decision he made.
He emphasized that only President Jokowi has the right to decide whether to fire Moeldoko or not. So there is no need for intervention from any party.
Ngabalin also asked all parties who often voiced Moeldoko’s backsliding so as not to be hurt. Because everything could not be intervened just like that and he assessed that those who voiced Moeldoko’s decline as KSB did not understand anything.
On a different occasion, an academic at the University of Indonesia (UI) Ade Armando considered that President Jokowi was not involved in anything, or he was clean from the Democrat KLB.
In his youtub channel CokroTv, Ade Armando assessed that even though Moeldoko was involved in the Democrat Party outbreak, President Jokowi was certainly not involved because he himself did not get any benefit from the Democratic coup.
Ade also explained that a survey conducted by a well-known research institute, in which the public still believed in Jokowi’s leadership, made it impossible for him to create political noise which would actually damage his positive image.
In addition, Jokowi is also one of the figures capable of embracing many parties including opposition parties into his cabinet, this is evidenced by the embracing of Prabowo and Sandiaga Uno into the ranks of his ministry.
This is of course proof that Jokowi does not want to make a mess, so the problems related to the Democratic Party Outbreak must be resolved respectfully without bringing down each other, who knows that this outbreak occurred because there are internal Party problems that have not been resolved.
