The relocation of the National Capital City (IKN) has become the government’s grand plan. The transfer of IKN from Jakarta to East Kalimantan seems to have received support from the Indigenous Dayak community throughout Kalimantan.
Yakobus Kumis as Secretary General of the National Dayak Indigenous Council (MADN), said that his party is open to the plan to move the state capital to North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan, because the plan is not something that is prohibited. James said, moving the capital city is not something illegal. The reason for moving the capital city, of course, has gone through extraordinary studies. Although open to the plan, his party will continue to speak out if there are things that harm the Dayak indigenous people in the process of developing the Nusantara IKN. He hopes that the government will really pay attention to the rights of indigenous peoples.
The transfer of IKN is of course with a note, so that people in Kalimantan can be considered and given the opportunity to participate in an equal position before the law. He explained that the indigenous civilization of Kalimantan would certainly face a lot of competition if the capital city of the country was on Borneo. However, his party provides an opportunity for the government to fulfill the rights of indigenous peoples in the process of transferring and developing IKN Nusantara.
On the other hand, James regretted the statement that came out of Edy Mulyadi’s mouth. According to Yakobus, the words that came out of Edy’s mouth had insulted the people of Kalimantan. Edy’s statement is considered to have degraded the people of Kalimantan. The connotation that Kalimantan is a place for jinn to dispose of children is a very inappropriate insult.
Yakobus considered that the sentence contained elements of hatred, pitting against each other, even statements that were hoaxes not based on data and facts were submitted to influence the rest of the people of Kalimantan and Indonesia in general. He also asked the National Police Chief to take firm action on Edy’s words.
Previously, the Paser Dayak Community expressed their support for President Jokowi’s decision to move the State Capital from Jakarta to North Penajam Paser and Kutai Kartanegara Regencies, East Kalimantan. This support was actualized by the Paser Traditional Institute of North Penajam Paser Regency by holding the traditional ritual of Tambak Pulut and Fresh Flour.
The head of the Paser Traditional Institute of North Penajam Paser Regency, Musa said that the ritual had a cooling meaning. The traditional ritual is also an expression of gratitude for the election of North Penajam Paser Regency as the location of the new nation’s capital city.
The Paser Dayak people are the indigenous people of Benuo Taka. They promised to maintain the policy of the central government related to the relocation of the capital city. Musa emphasized that so far the Dayak Paser indigenous people have always respected customs, so that it is certain that there will be no unwanted events regarding the relocation of the capital city. He stated that the Paser Traditional Institute accepted the central government’s decision and hoped that it would always be involved, and that development could also maintain local cultural wisdom.
Meanwhile, the indigenous ethnic communities of the island of Kalimantan have expressed their agreement and provided full support in the process of moving the national capital. This statement of support was manifested in a declaration involving 11 figures from various Dayak Indigenous institutions throughout Kalimantan at the Ballroom of the Grand Tjokro Hotel, Balikpapan, East Kalimantan.
The chairman of the East Kalimantan Dayak Alliance, Shyarie Jaang said the theme of the declaration was “We, the unity of the Dayaks in Kalimantan, will protect and care for you, my archipelago”. According to him, in front of more than 60 Dayak traditional leaders throughout Kalimantan, the Dayak Indigenous people promised to oversee and maintain the smooth development of the new IKN in East Kalimantan and asked the Central Government to immediately appoint a Head of the New Archipelago State Capital Authority Agency who would lead the IKN Special Region. New.
The declaration is of course proof that the Dayak people of Kalimantan also fully support the decision of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, together with the DPR-RI, which has established and ratified the law on the new state capital (IKN) of the Republic of Indonesia, called Nusantara.
Support from the Dayak indigenous people is of course very necessary, this support is a form of harmony between government policies and indigenous peoples who will later become part of the State Capital.
