Jakarta — All figures attended the Joint Declaration for Peace, Qualified Elections 2024 at the National Symposium at the PDIP Party School and stated that indeed the politicization of religion was completely incompatible with Pancasila.

The Head of the Pro Jokowi-Amin HMI Alumni Exponent, Ato’ Ismail stated that maintaining peace in the whole series of the 2024 Election is very important.

“The 2024 election is one of the democratic agendas that needs to be maintained so that Indonesia remains peaceful,” he said.

Then, Chairman of Baiul Muslimin Indonesia (Bamusi), Hamka Haq added that one way to be able to create a peaceful democratic party is to hold the event without the politicization of religion.

“National peace needs to be created towards the 2024 elections without the politicization of religion,” he said.

Still on the same occasion, Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah, Haedar Nashir said that by continuing to improve the life of the nation and state without the politicization of religion, it would be able to maintain the unity of Pancasila.

“To maintain the unity of the Pancasila State, we participants in the National Symposium on Religious Houses which will be held on March 21, 2023 agreed on the need to build peace in religious life and increase national solidarity without discrimination without the politicization of religion,” he said

Emphatically, he said that the politicization of religion is something that is very contrary to the ideology of Pancasila.

“We are aware that discrimination and the politicization of religion are very much against the state ideology of Pancasila,” added Haedar.

The reason is, when the politicization of religion is still carried out, it will give birth to national disinterpretation.

“In turn it will give rise to a nation’s interpretation for that, all forms of ideas that lead to the politicization of religion or discriminatory identity politics on behalf of us should be avoided and related to Pancasila and the Republic of Indonesia,” he explained.

The spread of the issue of the politicization of religion, then according to the Presidium Chair of the Indonesian Bishops’ Conference (KWI), Mgr. Antonius Subianto Bunjamin highlighted that it is a challenge in itself when the flow of information is very intense.

“The first challenge is that currently we live in a world where everyone is the editor-in-chief of himself, so it’s like the media is in our hands,” he explained.

Therefore, in order to be free from it all, according to him, it is very important that people have the ability to control themselves.

“We don’t have editors other than ourselves, so we must have self-control in facing the 2024 elections without having to go here and there,” said Antonius. []
