Religious Figures Play an Important Role in Securing the 2024 Election to Create a Conducive Situation

The creation of peace for all mankind can be felt if the 2024 general elections run smoothly, safely and solidly. To make this happen, it is inseparable from the important role of religious leaders in Indonesia, considering that our society is heterogeneous.
In the near future, Indonesia will hold a very important event for the progress of the nation and the country, namely the General Election (Election) in 2024. In that year, in addition to the democratic party, of course there will be a national political contestation with various dynamics that can trigger various kinds of potential divisions.
However, this can be overcome with awareness and cohesiveness among human beings in the country, bearing in mind that our society has a heterogeneous nature. Towards the continuation of the 2024 Election, security needs to be tightened to minimize the existence of this conflict.
The reason is, a competition cannot be denied that will cause some ideological friction and even become a threat of division. The existence of various kinds of people with different backgrounds makes the thoughts of each individual not the same. However, the positive point is that the existence of these differences should unite all the differences that exist.
For the sake of creating healthy General Elections (Pemilu), religious leaders have an important role to play in securing the voting process which will take place in 2024, bearing in mind the ideology of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) which is embodied in Pancasila in the first precept, namely regarding Belief in God Almighty. One, then society must realize a harmonious, balanced and harmonious life between humans and all other creatures created by God.
It is very important for all elements of society in the country to be able to build awareness to be able to carry out healthy competition and also maintain the existence of ukhuwuah Islamiyah, namely brotherhood among fellow Muslims, which later develops into ukhuwah wathaniyah, namely the existence of national brotherhood. All awareness of brotherhood and unity should be able to continue to be the glue in the midst of the heat of the 2024 election contestation.
Regarding this matter, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) Mahfud MD asked the ulemas and caretakers of Islamic boarding schools in East Java to participate in securing the General Election (Pemilu) process in the upcoming 2024 year.
Furthermore, Mahfud MD reassured that the holding of the 2024 elections would take place as scheduled and nothing would be cancelled. Therefore, he asked all levels of society to use their right to vote in elections because that is the state strategy and the state strategy is in the election.
As is well known, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) upholds democracy, even for the change of election power to become the key to community deliberation forums in determining its Leaders.
In line with this statement, Acting Chairperson of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), KH Marsudi Syuhud also said that he felt proud and lucky to be in this country because there was already a stage for political contestation which was well facilitated, so that with this can be a healthy competition and most importantly does not cause divisions between siblings.
Meanwhile, in his speech at the Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School, Probolinggo, East Java, Mahfud MD questioned as well as gave directions related to what the purpose of the Election was to fight for. Is it to fight for the economy? If this is true, the aim of elections is, he reminded the public that they must choose representatives who can be trusted, choose good leaders in the People’s Representative Council (DPR), in their respective regions and even in the government so that they are not mistaken in choosing leaders.
In fact, a number of religious leaders have declared their commitment to ensure that the 2024 elections are held in a safe, harmonious, peaceful and solid manner. This is of course in line with the foundation of our country, namely Pancasila, that the existence of discrimination and various kinds of efforts that can cause divisions will of course give birth to national disintegration.
Not only the clerics who helped secure the Election, the National Police also helped prepare security ahead of the upcoming 2024 Election year by presenting Brimob personnel who are members of the Rapid Reaction Troop (PRC).
National Police Chief General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo said that the Brimob Polri troops would be divided into VII zones, where each zone would back up the other but still pay attention to the needs of personnel in their areas of origin to anticipate escalation of Kamtibmas (public security and order) disturbances in the context of the 2024 Election.
In addition, the purpose of the cooperation carried out by the National Police in securing the 2024 Election is to realize General Elections (Elections) that are of quality and integrity and to maintain the brotherhood of brothers and sisters.
Therefore, in this case, religious leaders have a very strong influence so that they become an important part of participating in securing the upcoming 2024 elections in addition to the National Police team in order to create peace and minimize the occurrence of divisions among all humanity in this beloved Motherland.
