Realizing the Use of EBT, the 2023 ASEAN Summit Electric Vehicles are Ready for Use

Realizing the use of new and renewable energy (EBT), hundreds of electric vehicles to support the succession of the 2023 ASEAN Summit have arrived in Labuan Bajo and are ready for use.
The Government of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) has officially promulgated Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 112 of 2022 concerning the Acceleration of Development of New Energy for the Supply of Electricity on September 13, 2022. This regulation has indeed become one of the concrete manifestations of the government’s commitment in an effort to accelerate the development of new and renewable energy (EBT) nationally.
The Director General (Dirjen) of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation, Dadan Kusdiana revealed that indeed the existence of this Perpres is one of the regulations that the public has been waiting for, including all parties as stakeholders for the renewable energy sub-sector, besides that it has also become a form of the efforts of the Government of Indonesia to be able to achieve the EBT mix target.
On the other hand, with the issuance of Perpes No. 112/2022, also has the goal of being able to continue to increase investment and is also in line with the National Energy Policy and seeks to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Provisions regarding the acceleration of the development of renewable energy for the supply of electric power are regulated in Presidential Regulation Number 112 of 2022, including among others, covering Hydro, Geothermal, Solar, Wind, Biomass, Biogas, Seawater Power, and Biofuel Power Plants.
Furthermore, Dadan then added that with the issuance of the Presidential Decree, now Indonesia has a much more comprehensive regulation in order to support the acceleration of EBT. That way, the prices for new and renewable energy will become much clearer as determined by the President of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
It should be noted that efforts regarding the use of EBT are indeed being maximized by the Government of Indonesia, and even continue to be encouraged in organizing several international events held in Indonesia such as the Group of Twenty (G20) Summit until it will be used again at the ASEAN Summit. Summit 2023 in Labuan Bajo in May.
The government has even prepared a number of electric cars that can be used by state leaders and also participants in the 42nd ASEAN Summit. Apart from that, it turns out that the Indonesian National Police (Polri) also deployed their electric car fleet to help secure the meeting of state officials in the ASEAN region.
The West Manggarai Police Chief, AKBP Ari Satmoko explained that his party would utilize as many as 115 electric vehicles during the security of the 2023 ASEAN Summit. Then, these vehicles have reportedly arrived and are ready to be used in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
AKBP Ari added that of the 115 electric vehicles, there were 35 cars of the Hyundai Ioniq type which were focused on escorting state leaders and delegates, then the rest consisted of 80 motorcycles.
He stated that the 35 cars and 80 electric motorbikes had been sent by sea using KM Swarna Bahtera. Then the positions of the hundreds of electric vehicles are now placed at the Command Headquarters of Mobile Brigade Company 4 Yon B Pioneers of Labuan Bajo.
In order to be able to improve security and also the alertness of all security personnel in each KLBB unit, it is planned to park them in each designated area. Remember, because electric vehicles will be used to support the procession of the 2023 ASEAN Summit, so they must be in good condition.
Previously, the Ministry of State Secretariat (Kemensetneg) was known to have received hundreds of units of electric car loans to support the ASEAN Summit. It is recorded that they have received 13 units of BMW iX, 117 units of Hyundai Ioniq 5, and 65 units of Toyota bZ4X to become official vehicles for the ASEAN Summit.
PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) has prepared a total of 65 units of Bz4X type electric vehicles for use at the 2023 ASEAN Summit. Regarding this matter, President of PT TAM, Hiroyuki Ueda admitted that his party is very proud because it was chosen to fully support the mobility of the meeting which emission-free at the event.
All electric vehicles to support the succession of the 2023 ASEAN Summit have arrived in Labuan Bajo and are ready to be used. With the use of these electric vehicles, it has indeed become a clear proof of the seriousness and strong commitment given by the Government of Indonesia in realizing and increasing the use of EBT in Indonesia.
