President Joko Widodo directly inaugurated the Papua Youth Creative Hub facility in Jayapura City, last Tuesday (21/3/2023). This is the first center for developing the creativity of young people in Indonesia.

Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) is a forum for accommodating the talents of Papuan youths which in 2023 will have 12,843 members fostered by the State Intelligence Agency (BIN).

Head of BIN Budi Gunawan said Papua has a special place in President Jokowi’s heart. This is because President Jokowi always pays attention to the progress of this region which is located in the easternmost part of Indonesia. One of the concrete proofs is the development of PYCH for the advancement of the Papuan people.

“President Jokowi really cares about the people of Papua. This has been proven starting from infrastructure development, Papuan human resources, especially human resources for young people, Papuan women, traditional and religious institutions, to business development for Papuan children,” said Budi.

PYCH members are now spread across 21 districts/cities in Papua and West Papua which are engaged in MSME, creative industries, agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, social culture, as well as education and health.

Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) was built in Jayapura City, Papua with a main building area of 3,520 m² and 1,812 m² supporting buildings. This building has the architecture of the traditional honai and kariwari houses which depict the life philosophy of the Papuan people. Here, Papuan youth can develop their various talents and interests in the fields of fashion, podcasts, photography, and entrepreneurship.

Maria Fransisca Tambingon, a member of the Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) who once represented Papua at the Miss Indonesia 2014 event is now developing her business in the livestock sector through a laying hen farm which she founded in 2020.

“PYCH is a very high-quality platform for the younger generation in Papua,” said Maria.

It is known that PYCH helps Papuan youths and mothers in developing their businesses in various other sectors such as craft and typical Papuan food.
