High appreciation should be given to the government’s efforts to continue accelerating national economic recovery, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the Government of the Republic of Indonesia then stipulated the addition of holidays and joint leave in the celebration of Eid al-Adha to further boost the regional economy and also the local tourism sector.

The President of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), Joko Widodo (Jokowi) stated that there was an additional holiday or implementation of joint leave which coincided with the Eid al-Adha in 1444 Hijriah or 2023 AD. Not without reason, it turns out that there is a provision for the addition of these holidays to be able to continue to push the wheels of the economy in the community.

According to the Head of State, the main objective is to increase the number of days off and holidays together, so that people have longer time to be able to help the economy run, especially in the regions so that it can be even better.

It is undeniable that with the addition of holidays in the implementation of Eid al-Adha, it will be able to increase a number of activities that will be carried out by the community in filling their holiday time such as traveling and coming to the regions. Therefore, the Government of the Republic of Indonesia in this case really wants the acceleration of economic growth in all regions in Indonesia to be optimally encouraged, so it was decided to add additional days off.

The implementation of this policy did not suddenly just happen, but previously, the Government of Indonesia itself had also conducted a number of analyzes of people’s behavior patterns, and it was found that this policy of adding holidays was predicted to be effective in increasing the local tourism sector.

It is known that the Government of the Republic of Indonesia through the issuance of a Joint Decree (SKB) of the Three Ministers has determined that June 28 to 30 2023 is a joint holiday in welcoming the celebration of Eid al-Adha in 1444 Hijriah or 2023 AD. Meanwhile, June 29 2023 itself is indeed a national holiday for the commemoration of the Eid al-Adha.

It is written in the contents of the Joint Decree (SKB) of the Three Ministers, that in order to be able to further increase the mobility of the community, this includes also in order to be able to further support economic growth to tourism, as well as to be able to provide opportunities for togetherness between children and parents. they are during school holidays, so on Eid al-Adha in 2023 it is indeed necessary to make changes to the previous joint leave provisions, by adding holidays.

Meanwhile, the Minister for Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (Menpan RB), Abdullah Azwar Anas stated that indeed the determination of the Eid al-Adha holiday for 3 (three) days was not solely due to the possibility of establishing Eid al-Adha only between the government RI and religious community organizations (ormas) such as Muhammadiyah, which previously had often differed in opinion.

However, more than that, namely the addition of holidays in the celebration of Eid al-Adha 2023 is also to create more quality holidays among the community, so that they can establish closeness with their respective families with much higher quality.

The reason is, it is also very important to have quality time or the quality of closeness together that is built with family and other beloved relatives, especially during the holiday season for school children, so that people in Indonesia can have much more close time with their families.

Therefore, the whole community, including state civil servants (ASN) are advised to be able to adjust their holiday plans, which have been predetermined, and also to be able to make better use of this holiday moment to encourage the movement of the country’s economy so that it can support government program in an effort to strengthen the acceleration of national economic recovery after COVID-19 hit.

Also included, with the addition of holidays and joint leave, it can become a momentum to be able to carry out deep self-reflection from all of society, especially those who are Muslim about how the commemoration of Eid al-Adha is celebrated.

On the other hand, the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK), Muhadjir Effendy added that the establishment of joint leave in welcoming Eid al-Adha 1444 Hijriah was also a momentum to mark the transition from the COVID-19 pandemic to endemic.

With the aim of further boosting efforts to accelerate the recovery of the national economy, especially in the tourism sector, the Government of Indonesia has decided to add holidays and joint leave to commemorate Eid al-Adha 1444 Hijriah or 2023 AD. This decision certainly deserves a very high appreciation because it is hoped that the optimism for economic recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic carried out by this nation will be maximized.
