At present Papua is increasingly advanced and has various infrastructures such as the Trans Papua Road and the Youtefa Bridge. This modernity is realized thanks to the attention of President Jokowi, who wants the Cendrawasih Land to become a much better region. The younger generation praises President Jokowi for making Papua more advanced and having many representative facilities.
The acceleration of development in Papua continues to be increased, so that the people of Cendrawasih Land will be more prosperous. This program is very good, so that there will be no more inequality between western and eastern Indonesia. Because the people of Papua are also the people of Indonesia, they really deserve the acceleration of development.
Papua’s massive development has received appreciation from the younger generation. The General Chairperson of the Papuan Youth Exponent Rahman Fatur stated that Jokowi’s development in the infrastructure, economy, social, health and education sectors has been felt by the people of Papua even to the interior.
Rahman Fatur continued, in the health, education, infrastructure and other sectors, the development reached the hinterlands. Previously untouched, by President Jokowi all of this has been well realized. The acceleration of infrastructure development during the Jokowi era has succeeded in boosting regional economic growth. This is because the infrastructure built makes the community’s economy run.
Rahman explained that adequate infrastructure can reduce travel time, thus speeding up logistics routes. Rahman also revealed that in the Land of Papua, the Indonesian government has carried out various infrastructure developments including the construction of the Trans Papua road, construction of airports, ports, Youtefa Bridge, to the Sota Cross-border Post (PLBN) in Merauke Regency.
The development of Papua during President Jokowi’s administration was in almost all sectors. In fact, President Jokowi has come to Papua dozens of times to ensure development is running effectively and optimally.
Appreciation from the younger generation is very reasonable because currently Papua is very advanced, and has Sentani International Airport, Trans Papua Road, and various other infrastructures. With this infrastructure, there will be no inequality between Papua and other regions. Communities also benefit because they can take advantage of it.
To further advance Papua, Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 9 of 2017 was issued. There are 7 important instructions in the Presidential Instruction, to accelerate the development and welfare of the Papuan people. So that there is no more inequality between western and eastern Indonesia.
The seven points in Presidential Instruction Number 9 of 2017 include: a development approach based on culture, customary territories and indigenous Papuans (OAP). This is in line with the points in special autonomy, where OAP is more heard in Papua’s development, and all officials must be Papuans. Because they are the hosts, while the central government facilitates it with state budget funds.
The second point in the Presidential Instruction is to focus on underdeveloped, remote and border areas. So that people in Merauke can feel the flow of modernity, and are no longer left behind by civilians in Jayapura or Manokwari. Meanwhile, the third point of the Presidential Instruction is a dialogue approach with all stakeholders. The goal is that there is no miscommunication between project holders and the Head of Service and other officials.
The fourth point of the Presidential Instruction is assistance to local government officials and the community, and the fifth point is the empowerment and active involvement of local communities. The aim is for Papuan civilians to feel that they ‘own’ the accelerated development of Papua, because this project is useful for themselves.
The sixth point of the Presidential Instruction is the empowerment of indigenous Papuan and local entrepreneurs. The aim is for them to participate in supporting accelerated development projects, both with moral and material assistance. Meanwhile, the final point of the Presidential Instruction is cooperation with stakeholders, NGOs, international partners, and others. So this project will be completed quickly.
The seven points of the Presidential Instruction are aimed at accelerating development in Cendrawasih Earth and focusing on people’s welfare. It is hoped that there will be no more news about children suffering from malnutrition or malnutrition due to food shortages in Papua. Because the government implements the precepts of social justice for all Indonesian people.
Neither in Papua nor in Java, or other islands in Papua, there are no significant social inequality and differences in welfare. Because Earth of Cendrawasih has also progressed, thanks to the implementation of the Presidential Instruction and Special Autonomy. For example, there is the Trans Papua Road, Youtefa Bridge, Sentani International Airport, and several other infrastructures, as evidence of Papua’s modernity.
Apart from that, the community also supports the accelerated development program, because they want Papua to progress. This program was also quite successful because according to BPS data, the level of human development increased 3%, the number of unemployed fell 2%, and the number of poor people fell 3%. This shows that the government makes the concept of an appropriate program.
Appreciation is given by the young generation of Papua because currently the Cendrawasih Land region is progressing, thanks to President Jokowi’s attention. Papua has an image as a modern region and has adequate infrastructure.
