ISIS, a militant group that call themselves as the Islamic State whose mission is to restore the glory of Islam in the past by implementing a system of Islamic life under the leadership of so-called “caliphate” continues to be a hot issue world wide. Their various actions that are assessed sadistic and cruel undertaken by ISIS have resulted in a serious threat which lead most countries declare war against ISIS. The controversial actions which claimed based on the Islamic law is not only opposed by the ‘West’, but has also been criticized by most of the Islamic leaders and scholars.

Recently, a new horrifing video released by ISIS showing a Jordanian air force pilot, Moaz Al Kasasbeh burned alive made increasingly heavy criticism and condemnation directed at ISIS. Jordan’s King Abdullah then vowed to avenge and mobilize the country’s forces in response to the pilot killing. ISIS claimed the video is not unpurposely publicated. It is a serious warning to all air force pilots who joined the coalition led by U.S. against ISIS.

In the mean time, only few days after the “barbaric” ISIS video, UK which took a part in the coalition sent the country’s foreign minister to Jakarta last week, had a meeting with Indonesia Minister of Foreign Affairs. One topic of the meeting was the actual issues of terrorism, especially the threat as well as ideas about countering ISIS’s ideology. Inspite of the fact that Indonesia’s strong commitment on banning and prohibiting its citizen to join or get involved with the ‘terroist’ group, the country has yet shown any intentions to join the alliance fight against ISIS.

In regard with the consideration of joining U.S.-led coalition, one thing Indonesia is now still strategically noticed that actively involving by sending the Natioanl Army (TNI) against ISIS would result in the response of ISIS to probably make Indonesia as a new target of operations. Therefore, thousands of ISIS militant supporters scattered across the region of the country would be a top priority for Indonesian Government to be dealt with.
