Indonesia Ready to Host the 43rd ASEAN Summit
Jakarta – Indonesia is ready to host the 43rd ASEAN High Level Conference (KTT) in Jakarta. A number of venues have undergone extensive renovations and preparations. This was done by Indonesia as a form of commitment as Chair of ASEAN 2023 to be able to carry out its mandate as best as possible, starting from preparing infrastructure for the 43rd ASEAN Summit in Jakarta to the strategies prepared to make ASEAN a regional organization that has a role in maintaining regional stability and world.
The 43 ASEAN Summit 2023 will be held on 5-7 September 2023 at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Central Jakarta. Based on the ASEAN 2023 national calendar as reported on the official website (asean2023.id), the series of agendas for the 43rd ASEAN Summit and Related Summits or series of events for the 43rd ASEAN Summit in Jakarta will take place from 2-7 September 2023. The 43rd ASEAN Summit will also be attended a number of representatives from various countries, from ASEAN members and other invited countries.
Unlike the 42nd ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo last May, the 43rd ASEAN Summit in Jakarta in September will not only be attended by leaders of ASEAN member countries, but also heads of state/government from partner countries.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi said President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) would conduct 13 bilateral meetings and preside over 12 summits in the series of organizing the ASEAN Summit in Jakarta on 5-7 September 2023.
“The bilateral meetings will continue to increase so far, (currently) there have been 13 (scheduled) bilateral meetings,” said Foreign Minister Retno.
President Jokowi is also scheduled to preside over a number of non-conventional events, such as the opening of the 43rd ASEAN Summit in Jakarta, the opening of the ASEAN-Indo-Pacific Forum, gala dinners, social events, as well as the closing ceremony as well as handing over the chairmanship of ASEAN to Laos.
Retno said, apart from bilateral meetings with partner countries, the Indonesian President was scheduled to preside over 12 summits, namely plenary sessions, informal meetings, the ASEAN-China Summit, the ASEAN-South Korea Summit, and the ASEAN-Japan Summit.
Apart from that are the ASEAN-United States Summit, the ASEAN-Canada Summit, the ASEAN-India Summit, the ASEAN-Australia Summit, the ASEAN-United Nations (UN) Summit, the ASEAN Plus Three Summit (China, Japan, South Korea), and the Asia Summit. East.
Previously, the Director General of Information and Public Communication of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Dirjen IKP Kominfo), Usman Kansong said the 43 ASEAN 2023 Summit in Jakarta on September 5-7 would be attended by 26 countries. Consists of 10 ASEAN member countries and several other invited countries.
“The 43rd ASEAN Summit will be attended by 26 countries, apart from Southeast Asian countries, several countries will join the ASEAN Summit,” explained Director General of IKP Usman.
Among the list of countries that will attend the 43rd ASEAN Summit 2023 in Jakarta are Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, the Republic of Korea (South Korea), the Russian Federation, the United States, Canada as well as several international organizations such as the United Nations -Nation (UN).
