Bali – The first Summit of the Archipelagic and Island State Forum (AIS Forum Summit) in Bali will take place from 10 to 11 October 2023, at BNDCC Bali.

The 2023 AIS Forum Summit as a forum that accommodates cooperation between 51 island and archipelagic countries has been officially opened and chaired directly by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC). A number of concrete solutions emerged from this island nation’s forum.

“Collaboration and solidarity between archipelagic countries and island countries is very important to produce strategic, concrete and tactical steps in solving common problems,” said Jokowi at the Bali Nusa Dua Conference Center, Badung Regency, Bali Province. (11/10).

President Jokowi continued, the 2023 AIS Summit is an important opportunity to determine the direction of future collaboration where there are three things that need to be encouraged.

“Firstly, solidarity, equality and inclusiveness are principles that are shared. The second priority is concrete cooperation tailored to the recipient’s needs. “Third, a strong and dynamic cooperation framework to face future challenges,” said the President.

Indonesia believes that with international cooperation and support, countries, especially archipelago and island countries, can overcome various challenges and create new opportunities for growth and progress.

Previously, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi said that together with the countries in the Forum, Indonesia invited to ensure real results in four main areas, namely climate change mitigation and adaptation, blue economy and ecotourism, marine and coastal plastic waste, and sustainable maritime governance. Good.

“This is an urgent time for us as archipelagic and archipelagic countries to unite and work together. We are happy. “The delegates who attended the 5th MM AIS Forum 2023 were all equally committed,” said Retno.

The 2023 AIS Summit in Bali was also attended by representatives from four international organizations, namely the Melanesian Cooperation Group (MSG), the Pacific Island Countries Forum (PIF), the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and the UN Development Program Agency or above. known as UNDP.
