Lukas Enembe’s attorney, Petrus Bala Pattyona, revealed that the cause of his client’s death was apparently due to complications from the disease, including kidney failure. The statement put forward by the lawyer for the former Governor of Papua also responded to the circulation of hoaxes or fake news regarding the cause of his death which had been spread because he was poisoned and murdered.
It is known that Lukas Enembe died on Tuesday, December 26 2023 at the Gatot Subroto Central Army Hospital (RSPAD), Jakarta. He breathed his last breath at the age of 56 due to complications from his illness.
During his life, it could be said that this politician from the Democratic Party did not live a healthy lifestyle. Therefore, he suffers from various chronic complications such as diabetes, stroke, heart disease, hypertension and kidney problems. Due to the lack of awareness and anticipation from a young age, Lukas Enembe’s condition will continue to decline.
In fact, every time he undergoes an examination, the man who served as Regent of Puncak Jaya from 2007 to 2012 continues to experience various health problems with different symptoms. In 2022, Lukas Enembe also experienced swelling in his legs and complications from other illnesses.
Lukas Enembe’s personal doctor, Anthon Mote, explained that the condition of the patient he was treating was getting worse when his legs became swollen which was also followed by kidney failure, hypertension, leaky heart and hypertension. All of these illnesses apparently recurred at the same time, causing him to become unconscious and require serious treatment.
Then, the health experienced by the man born in 1967 continued to decline as the corruption case became more heated until he was finally named a suspect, namely on January 10 2023. He was also distrusted because he had a quite complicated medical history.
In fact, Lukas Enembe has had dialysis dozens of times due to his kidney failure. An unbalanced lifestyle and a genetic history of kidney disease make a person more likely to experience damage to their kidneys.
Meanwhile, the lawyer for the former Governor of Papua also confirmed that his client had indeed died at the RSPAD due to kidney failure. When he died, the man’s entire family gathered in the treatment room and accompanied him when he breathed his last breath.
The news regarding the cause of Lukas Enembe’s death was indeed colored by a number of conflicts. One of them was circulating on social media Facebook regarding a narrative which stated that the man who had received higher education at Sam Ratulangi University would be suddenly killed by certain parties.
It turns out, based on research and facts in the field, in fact the circulation of this narrative is completely untrue or a hoax. Not only is the narrative that the cause of Lukas Enembe’s death was that he was murdered, but there is also other false news that suggests that he was poisoned.
Regarding the circulation of this hoax narrative, the Spokesperson for Enforcement and Institutions of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Ali Fikri, informed that the news was completely untrue or a hoax.
On the other hand, on October 1 2022, Lukas Enembe himself gave information to the media crew that he had suffered a stroke, at which time according to the Singaporean doctor who treated him it was discovered that the heart of the former Governor of Bumi Cenderawasih was dirty.
After the death of Lukas Enembe, the Acting Mayor of Jayapura, Frans Pekey, appealed to all people in Papua not to be easily taken in by hoax news or the circulation of false and misleading news. Frans emphasized this because he found a lot of information spreading that there were many mass movements in the jurisdiction of Jayapura City.
However, on the other hand, activities in a number of areas of Jayapura City itself look very safe and normal. All the hoax news that is spread has the potential to continue to cause friction between communities.
Therefore, all people in Papua should not panic and continuously monitor correct information according to clear sources and also be able to avoid the spread of hoax news.
So it is very clear that there is a narrative which reveals that the cause of Lukas Enembe’s death was poisoning or murder, this is false news, misleading or could be said to be a hoax.
