Bali – Indonesia stated its readiness to host the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) which will be held in Bali on 18-25 May 2024. According to Dr. KG Dharma Putra, Lecturer in Environmental Chemistry, FMIPA, Udayana University, Indonesia has extensive experience in organizing large-scale international events and has abundant potential water resources, making it an ideal place to discuss global water solutions.

“Indonesia is very experienced in organizing large and international events. “Previous experience also shows that these activities were very successful,” explained Dr. Dharma Putra.

“Indonesia is located in the equatorial region which has two seasons, the rainy season and the dry season, with the potential for very abundant water resources. “This makes Indonesia a strategic and appropriate place to discuss water issues and discuss future policies to save water on earth,” added Dr. Dharma Putra.

Furthermore, Dr. Dharma Putra said that Bali, as a well-known tourist destination, has infrastructure and human resources that are ready to support the smooth running of the event.

“Bali has quite abundant water potential, with mountainous areas, many springs, lakes that store quite a lot of water, and several rivers with water, especially in the southern region,” he explained.

“The Balinese people also have local wisdom in the field of water systems known as ‘Subak’ which has inspired many other countries throughout the world,” he added.

Dr. Dharma Putra is optimistic that holding the 10th WWF in Bali will provide many benefits for Indonesia.

“On the one hand, the host has the opportunity to convey the successes that have been made related to the implementation or management of water management. “On the other hand, Indonesia can also ask for support from the international community and build cooperation to improve the water management system in Indonesia, especially in Bali,” he explained.

The 10th World Water Forum is expected to become an important platform for leaders, experts and the public to share knowledge, experience and innovative solutions in addressing water challenges around the world. With its potential and readiness, Bali is ready to welcome and make the 10th WWF Summit a success.
