Kupang — The younger generation hopes for support from various cross-sectoral parties to ensure the success of the 2024 Regional Head Election (Pilkada).

The General Chairperson of the NTT Muhammadiyah Student Association Regional Leadership, Tita Nandita Oktaviani, said that the support of all parties is very important for the success of the Pilkada.

“Election organizers, the KPU at both the provincial and district/city levels throughout Indonesia are also expected to continue to strive to complete the tasks and mandates given to complete or hold the simultaneous regional elections in 2024 well,” he said.

“Support from various parties is also very important to realize the success of the 2024 regional elections simultaneously,” added Tita.

According to him, with the active participation of all parties, it is not impossible that it will also increase awareness of the wider community in participating in the 2024 Pilkada.

Tita added, with a lot of active community participation in the Pilkada, this indicates the strong legitimacy of the elected leaders.

“All parties, including the government, non-governmental organizations, society and various communities, need to work together to support the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada by making a positive contribution in increasing public participation and awareness,” he said.

“In line with the implementation of the 2024 elections where voter participation reached 81%, it is hoped that the level of voter participation in the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections can increase further, and show the strong legitimacy of the elected leaders,” he added.

Discussing active community participation, the Chairman of IPM NTT explained that it turns out participation is not just limited to voting, but also involves supervision and in-depth understanding.

“Community participation in the democratic process is not only limited to elections, but also involves monitoring the course of the election process as well as developing a deep understanding of the prospective leaders and the vision and mission of the prospective leaders,” he said.

Meanwhile, according to Mariano Parada as Chair of the Indonesian Timor Community Care Institute, wise use of social media is also a form of active community participation in the Pilkada.

The reason is, through social media, it allows the public to directly monitor how the 2024 Pilkada is going.

Also, by using social media, the public can report any fraud.

“This includes allowing the public to report fraud if it occurs,” he explained.

Therefore, according to Mariano, the use of social media is important as a form of real support for the success of the 2024 regional elections.

“Therefore, this digital platform is a very fast means or forum for the public to access election information, including being a means for the public to directly monitor the ongoing election process,” he concluded.
