Papua – The formation of the New Autonomous Region (DOB) for Papua is a strategic step that can have a positive impact on the young generation in Papua. With the existence of the New Autonomous Region, it is hoped that Papua can have greater control over resource management and development in the region, so that it can accommodate local needs, including those of the younger generation.

This was conveyed by Young Papuan Intellectual, Arman Wakum when interviewed by Matoa TV in Papua, Monday 24/06/2024.

“In my opinion, having a new autonomous region in Tanah Papua with the addition of four provinces means there will be lots of opportunities and lots of progress, especially for young people. “Previously, with the old ones, maybe the opportunity was there but it wasn’t evenly distributed,” said Arman.

Arman also said that the existence of new autonomous regions can encourage inclusive local economic development, create jobs and business opportunities for the young generation of Papua, so that they can contribute significantly to the development of their region.

“There are many things that can be achieved with the DOB, especially for young people. For example, open opportunities for work, education, creative work, and so on. “Apart from that, with the DOB, it is hoped that many young people will stand up and work there,” said Arman.

According to Arman, the younger generation must help maintain and protect Papuan culture and local wisdom, including language and traditions, so that the younger generation can be proud of their identity and inherit a rich cultural heritage.

“There is a lot of potential in Papua. With the new autonomous region, it is hoped that many young people will stand up and work there. So, not just in one field but in many fields. “Such as economy, education, culture, contemporary jobs, creativity, and so on,” said Arman.

The Papua Special Region has great potential to become a strong foundation for existence for the young generation of Papua. By providing better access to quality education that is relevant to local Papuan culture. This includes developing a curriculum that reflects Papuan values and traditions as well as preparing young people with the skills necessary for their future.

“The existence of new autonomous regions can support the existence of young people in Papua because apart from having many opportunities, there are also many positive things that can be done. “The important keyword is that Papuan young people must have lots of ideas and be creative,” concluded Arman.
