Puncak Jaya – The RK 753/AVT Yonif Task Force, succeeded in shooting dead 3 members of the Free Papua Organization (OPM) led by Teranus Enumbi in Karubate Village, Muara District, Puncak Jaya, Tuesday (16/7) at around 19.45 WIT. The three OPM members who were successfully paralyzed were Sonda Wanimbo, Yotenus Wonda and Dominus Wonda.
Kapendam XVII/Cenderawasih, Lt. Col. Inf Candra Kurniawan said the Teranus Enumbi OPM gang and several of its members were detected by the authorities entering residential areas carrying firearms. The authorities responded quickly by taking action against the OPM gang. The authorities also succeeded in confiscating a homemade pistol and a Morning Star flag.
“When they were about to be arrested by the authorities at the kiosk/stall, the OPM gang resisted by shooting. “TNI soldiers responded by shooting the group, which caused 3 OPM members to die,” said Candra, Wednesday (17/7).
Candra added that the Teranus Enumbi group often terrorized residents in Puncak Jaya. This group also often destroys public facilities and attacks security forces. The action against OPM members in Puncak Jaya is a form of law enforcement, in order to reduce security disturbances.
“OPM always terrorizes, both attacking and shooting civilians and TNI/Polri security forces, destroying and burning public facilities and residents’ property as well as other infrastructure. “Therefore, this action is a form of law enforcement,” he said.
For information, the OPM Teranus Enumbi gang is known to be very cruel and sadistic in attacking, shooting and killing civilians and security forces. Teranus Enumbi himself was included in the Police DPO regarding the criminal act of attacking security forces in 2018.
In 2024, this group has committed several criminal acts, including attacking two security officers named Sertu Ismunandar and Serka Salim with sharp weapons on March 19 2024. Shooting Husen (motorcycle taxi driver) on June 19, attacking Jainul (motorcycle taxi driver) on May 30 and finally attacked Prasetyo (civilian) on May 31 2024. [*]
