Jakarta – Indonesia has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing the challenges of global climate change through the holding of the Indonesia Sustainability Forum (ISF) 2024, which will take place on 5-6 September 2024 at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC). This prestigious event is organized by the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment together with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), with the aim of accelerating sustainability and decarbonization efforts in Indonesia and the surrounding region.

ISF 2024 aims to accelerate sustainability and decarbonization efforts not only in Indonesia but also in the surrounding region. ISF 2024 is an important momentum for Indonesia to strengthen its position as a leader in the global movement towards sustainability. More than 100 businesses from various sectors, together with more than 10 educational institutions, will be involved in a series of exhibitions, workshops, and seminars designed to build a concrete coalition in achieving the target of net zero emissions by 2050.

One of the main participants in ISF 2024 is APP Group, which has consistently supported the Indonesian government’s carbon emission reduction agenda. In this forum, APP Group will actively participate in two important discussion sessions on September 6, 2024.

In the first session titled “Decarbonizing Indonesian Industry,” Elim Sritaba, APP Chief Sustainability Officer, together with Adrian Suharto, Director of Asia Pacific at Robertsbridge Group, and several other business representatives, will discuss practical strategies and innovative solutions for the low-carbon energy transition. The discussion will highlight the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors in achieving decarbonization targets.

The second session, themed “Enabling the Low Carbon Transition: The Role of Policy, Finance, and Technology,” will explore the role of policy, financial mechanisms, and technology in supporting the low-carbon transition across industries. The panel is expected to provide strategic guidance for stakeholders in achieving the global net-zero emissions target by 2050.

Elim Sritaba stated that “The Indonesia International Sustainability Forum provides an important platform to discuss strategies and collaborations needed to achieve decarbonization targets. With the challenges of climate change driven by greenhouse gas emissions, we need significant steps to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. Collaboration and innovation will be key to realizing a sustainable and low-carbon future.”

Indonesia’s commitment to achieving decarbonization is the main focus of ISF 2024. With various initiatives, Indonesia has shown its seriousness in achieving the emission reduction targets set in the Paris Agreement. Through this forum, Indonesia seeks to strengthen global partnerships and encourage collaboration between countries and sectors to achieve ambitious climate goals.

ISF 2024 is expected to be a catalyst for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the government and the business sector, while strengthening cross-sector collaboration in realizing a more sustainable Indonesia. This forum will be a place for business leaders, policymakers, and academics to discuss, share knowledge, and create real solutions to support the transition to a low-carbon economy.

By holding ISF 2024, Indonesia reaffirms its position as a key actor in global efforts to address climate change and strengthens its commitment to reducing carbon emissions, while building a sustainable future for future generations.
