Jokowi’s Decade of Success: Equitable Development, Rising Economy

24

Jakarta — In the past 10 years, President Joko Widodo’s administration has succeeded in pushing for massive infrastructure development that has had a positive impact on economic growth in Indonesia. Faisyal Chaniago, a lecturer at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Bung Karno University, stated that infrastructure development in the Jokowi era has had a significant impact on the national economy and public welfare.

“The infrastructure development carried out by Jokowi, such as the construction of toll roads, ports, and markets in various regions, aims to equalize economic growth. No longer only centered in big cities like Jakarta, but also expanding to other regions,” said Faisyal. According to him, this step reduces economic inequality and social jealousy in the regions, thus minimizing the potential for conflict.

In addition, Faisyal highlighted Jokowi’s success in creating political stability. “Jokowi implemented a policy of harmony, embracing various political parties including his rival, Prabowo, to maintain political stability. This is an important step to ensure that development can run smoothly without political interference.”

However, Faisyal also reminded that there are still challenges to be faced, especially related to regional autonomy. “Many regions are not yet independent and still rely on the APBN. Regions must be able to create a strong APBD so that development in the regions can be sustainable,” he said.

Regarding the challenges ahead, Faisyal hopes the next president can continue the development pioneered by Jokowi. “Prabowo, if elected, must continue the existing development and improve the remaining deficiencies, especially in food independence.”

He also emphasized the need for fair regulations related to political stability, so that there is no deviation of power that is only centered on certain groups. “This regulation must apply comprehensively, not just to one party.”

In the end, Faisyal appreciated Jokowi’s achievements in satisfying the needs of the people, with a public satisfaction rate reaching 70 percent. “This is an achievement that must be appreciated. Jokowi has opened the eyes of many parties, especially in the development of significant infrastructure throughout Indonesia, including Papua,” he concluded.
