Political and Economic Experts Agree, Appreciate 10 Years of Jokowi and Support New Government
Jakarta – A number of achievements have been made by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) during his decade in leading this country. President Jokowi’s leadership will soon end, then the new presidential position will be transferred to Prabowo Subianto. This government transition must run smoothly so that conducive conditions can continue to be maintained.
Ahead of the end of President Jokowi’s leadership, one of the private TV stations held a dialogue themed “Maintaining Stability, Smooth Government Transition and Successful Programs of the Elected President”. The dialogue event presented the Director of the School of Stategic and Global Studies (SKSG) who is also an Economic Observer at the University of Indonesia, Athor Subroto and Political Economic Observer at Bung Karno University, Faisyal Chaniago as resource persons.
Athor Subroto said that the Jokowi government’s commitment to embracing all components of politicians has given a signal to businessmen and the public that Indonesian politics is mature. With that signal, many economic actors feel confident in carrying out economic activities in Indonesia.
“The commitment to a smooth transition from the Jokowi government to Prabowo is a good thing, so that the quick win of the next government can run quickly, because that is something that must be implemented immediately,” said Athor on the Prime Time News Program, at the Metro TV studio, Jakarta, Tuesday (24/09) evening.
According to him, President Jokowi has a great passion to grow the Indonesian economy, and it has been responded well by the market. Like it or not, in fact our economic figures continue to improve.
“The existence of economic growth at level 5 is an extraordinary economic resilience from President Jokowi until now and in fact our economy is getting better,” said Athor.
Athor also added that Jokowi’s message to his staff to support Prabowo’s cabinet could be a market signal that he wants this transition to be successful, because good leadership must be continued, because if it cannot be continued, it will be a problem.
“That’s a message that for me personally is a guarantee that the transition will make all Indonesian people continue to progress. This is the key to how a leader leads the next leader, including the creation of accelerated regulations to support the next government,” Athor emphasized.
In the same place, Faisyal Chaniago said that President Jokowi’s government approach could be emulated by Prabowo, namely with a soft approach, how he embraces all his political competitors so that they are involved in his cabinet.
“We appreciate Jokowi leading 10 years of programs that can be felt by all, especially downstreaming and need to be supported by the next government. So that politics remain stable and there is no chaos, the harmonious political approach is what Prabowo must do,” he said.
According to him, the transition period must be maintained and monitored so that the development program runs continuously. So that there is no overlapping of policies so that all programs can run well. So this transition must be carried out until the new cabinet is formed.
“In this transition period, it is very important, so it must be guarded and monitored so that there is no overlapping policy. So this transition must be carried out until the new cabinet is formed,” he said.
The economic growth of President Jokowi’s era can be continued by Prabowo’s government. As is the case with increasing the role of BUMN, which must be considered by the next government.
“The next government must implement downstreaming because this will be the biggest income later. There must not be a decline in the middle class because it will shake the country,” Faisyal concluded.
