President Jokowi’s Legacy: Realizing Indonesia-centricity Through Massive Infrastructure Development
Jakarta – Over the last decade, President Jokowi has built a strong new foundation for Indonesia through various infrastructure projects spread throughout the region, especially in the 3T area.
With a comprehensive development approach, this achievement is proof of the success of Indonesia-centric development.
A number of vital infrastructures have been successfully completed, including the construction of 366 thousand kilometers of village roads, 1.9 million meters of village bridges, 2,700 kilometers of toll roads and 6,000 kilometers of new national roads.
Apart from that, efforts to strengthen connectivity and food security are also being realized through the construction of 50 new ports and airports, 43 dams, as well as a new irrigation network covering an area of 1.1 million hectares.
FEB UI Professor, Telisa Aulia Falianty, expressed her appreciation for this achievement.
“We appreciate Pak Jokowi that he is the father of Indonesian infrastructure because he left an extraordinary legacy,” he said.
According to Telisa, the infrastructure built has had a significant impact on the Indonesian economy, including in the 3T (underdeveloped, frontier and outermost) areas.
“If we look, President Jokowi is building from the outskirts, so the 3T area is his priority,” he added.
Meanwhile, Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Susiwijono Moegiarso, also emphasized that infrastructure development during President Jokowi’s leadership had a major impact on economic growth.
“This massive infrastructure development has had a huge impact on our economic growth over the past decade,” he explained.
According to Susiwijono, infrastructure built outside Java, including special economic zones, has created new jobs and strengthened inclusive economic growth throughout Indonesia.
With a consistent budget allocation, namely between IDR 400 to 500 trillion annually, infrastructure development in President Jokowi’s era has facilitated connectivity, improved basic services, strengthened food distribution, and had a broad impact on society, especially in remote areas.
In the future, it is hoped that this development will be continued by the new government in order to maintain sustainable economic growth.
