Chair of the Melanesian Youth Diplomacy Forum for Appreciating President Jokowi’s Legacy and Hopes for the National Leadership Transition
Jakarta – Chairman of the Melanesian Youth Diplomacy Forum, Steve Mara, gave high appreciation for the achievements achieved by President Joko Widodo during his two terms of leadership. According to Mara, Jokowi’s leadership has not only brought major changes in infrastructure development, but also brought an Indonesiacentric spirit that is evenly distributed throughout the country, including the easternmost regions of Indonesia.
“During President Jokowi’s leadership, we have witnessed various positive achievements which are very meaningful for the nation. It is not only limited to one aspect, but covers many areas, especially infrastructure development which is no longer focused only on the island of Java,” said Mara.
He underlined that development policies have now expanded, prioritizing Indonesia-centric principles that reach remote areas.
“This development is now touching various regions, from Java to Papua, Sulawesi, Kalimantan and Sumatra, ensuring equality that is truly felt by the community,” he added.
Mara believes that this approach not only strengthens physical connectivity between regions, but also changes the face of national development to be more inclusive and just.
“These steps have had a big impact, and the appreciation from the wider community cannot be denied,” he said.
Furthermore, Mara also highlighted President Jokowi’s success in developing high-quality human resources (HR) as part of the grand vision of Golden Indonesia 2045.
“President Jokowi not only focuses on physical infrastructure, but also pays great attention to human resource development. This is a strategic step in preparing Indonesia for a more advanced and competitive era in 2045,” explained Mara.
Welcoming the national leadership transition, Mara hopes that President-elect Prabowo Subianto, along with Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, can continue the solid foundation that has been built by President Jokowi.
“These positive achievements must of course be continued by the new President and Vice President, so that sustainable development can continue,” stressed Mara.
He also emphasized the importance of sustainability in development policies, especially in the context of preparations for a Golden Indonesia 2045.
“If the next leadership can continue and even strengthen existing achievements, we will be on the right track to achieve the great vision of a Golden Indonesia,” he continued.
