Pro-People Economic Program: Prabowo-Gibran’s Commitment to Poverty Alleviation
By: Silvia Anggun )*
In the dynamic political and economic development of Indonesia, poverty alleviation programs have always been a top priority for the government. In this context, the presidential and vice presidential pair, Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, have emphasized their commitment to a pro-people economic program as the main step in overcoming poverty in Indonesia. This program is designed with a clear vision and focuses on community empowerment, strengthening the economic sector, and improving people’s welfare at all levels of society.
Prabowo and Gibran recognize that poverty is a complex problem that requires comprehensive and integrated solutions. Therefore, they emphasize the importance of programs that not only address poverty in the short term, but also provide sustainable long-term impacts. By focusing on increasing the economic productivity of the poor, Prabowo-Gibran seeks to create an environment that supports the growth of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), strengthens the agricultural sector, and improves people’s access to education and health.
Prabowo, who has a background as a military and experienced politician, understands very well that one of the keys to poverty alleviation is creating productive and sustainable jobs. On the other hand, Gibran as a young entrepreneur and mayor of Solo, has shown his success in managing local government and has a vision that is in line with Prabowo’s in terms of inclusive economic development.
One of the main pillars in the pro-people economic program promoted by Prabowo-Gibran is the empowerment of MSMEs. They believe that the MSME sector is the backbone of the Indonesian economy, which contributes greatly to the absorption of labor and the creation of new jobs. Prabowo-Gibran is committed to providing full support to MSME actors through various strategic policies. One of them is the provision of easier and more affordable access to capital, both through formal financial institutions such as banks and through non-bank financial institutions. In addition, they also plan to expand the market for MSME products through digitalization and the development of e-commerce platforms that allow MSME actors to sell their products to a wider market, both domestically and internationally.
In addition to access to capital, Prabowo-Gibran also emphasized the importance of training and mentoring for MSMEs. They plan to initiate training programs aimed at improving managerial capacity, production capabilities, and marketing skills for MSMEs. Thus, MSMEs are not only able to survive, but also develop and become more competitive.
United Development Party (PPP) politician and Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf), Sandiaga Uno said he would help the elected President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, especially in terms of the economy and MSMEs. As a successful entrepreneur who focuses on empowering MSMEs and the creative economy, Sandiaga supports the development of MSMEs and the digitalization of the economy, which is in line with Prabowo-Gibran’s pro-people economic program.
One of the main focuses of the program planned by Prabowo-Gibran is to create food sovereignty. Prabowo-Gibran is committed to reducing Indonesia’s dependence on food imports by increasing local food production. This will be done through policies that encourage optimal land use, improve irrigation systems, and provide incentives for farmers to plant strategic commodities needed by the domestic market. In addition, they will also encourage the formation of partnerships between farmers and large companies in order to create a more efficient and profitable supply chain for all parties.
In addition, they will also strengthen energy infrastructure by increasing renewable energy production capacity, so that Indonesia can reduce its dependence on fossil fuels and create a more sustainable environment. Prabowo-Gibran also plan to develop efficient logistics infrastructure, so that local products can be more easily reached by national and international markets.
One of the important elements of the pro-people economic program promoted by Prabowo-Gibran is sustainability. They understand that economic development that is only oriented towards short-term growth will not provide sustainable benefits to the community. Therefore, they are committed to creating an environmentally friendly, sustainable, and inclusive development model, which involves active participation from all levels of society.
Within the framework of sustainability, Prabowo-Gibran also emphasized the importance of environmental preservation. They are committed to preserving Indonesia’s forests, seas, and natural resources, and ensuring that economic development does not damage existing ecosystems. In doing so, they hope to leave a better environment for future generations.
Chairman of the Gerindra Faction in the DPR, Budisatrio Djiwandono said Prabowo and Gibran will encourage community independence, as an effort to eradicate sustainable poverty. Collaboration and synergy between social welfare programs are of course in accordance with existing laws, and have the principles of transparency and accountability.
The pro-people economic program promoted by Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka is a real manifestation of their commitment to eradicating poverty in Indonesia. By focusing on empowering MSMEs, strengthening the agriculture and fisheries sectors, increasing access to education and health, and sustainable infrastructure development, they hope to create positive changes that have a broad impact on all Indonesian people. This certainly needs to be widely appreciated as a concrete effort by the Prabowo-Gibran Government to improve people’s welfare.
