Government’s Commitment to Eradicate Judol Gets Support from Various Groups
Jakarta- The government under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto continues to show serious commitment in eradicating online gambling (judol) in Indonesia. The latest firm step in the form of arresting dozens of employees of the Ministry of Digital Communication (Komdigi) who are suspected of being involved in protecting thousands of online gambling sites has received appreciation from various groups. This policy marks the government’s rapid movement in cleaning up state institutions from illegal activities that damage society.
Cyber Law Expert from the University of Indonesia, Intan Pratama, emphasized the importance of transparent steps by the government in exposing online gambling practices, including in government circles. According to Intan, this transparency is real evidence that the government is committed to taking firm action against violations of the law without discrimination. “The government’s steps in exposing online gambling practices within the government should be appreciated. This transparency is important so that the public understands the government’s commitment to taking firm action against violations of the law,” said Intan.
Not only that, Intan also suggested that the government strengthen legal sanctions for state officials involved in online gambling. According to her, heavier sanctions will provide a clear and strong warning, creating a government that is clean from illegal activities. “The government needs to continue to strengthen legal sanctions so that it can be a clear warning for all state officials, so that a clean government is created that is free from illegal activities,” she added.
Meanwhile, the Executive Director of the Indonesian Digital Consumer Institute (LKDI), Abdul Kholik, M.Sc., expressed his support for President Prabowo’s firmness and determination in eradicating online gambling. According to Abdul, the government’s swift action in uncovering the involvement of employees in protecting online gambling sites shows the firm stance of the Prabowo government. “The Prabowo government’s swift action and firmness are evident in the arrest of dozens of employees of the Ministry of Communication and Digital who were involved in cases of protecting thousands of online gambling sites,” explained Abdul.
In addition to destroying personal finances, online gambling is also considered to be able to trigger various social problems and crime. Advisors Alliance Group Indonesia, Andy Nugroho, explained that online gambling practices have a wide impact on the stability of society. “Online gambling not only destroys finances, but also has the potential to give rise to the seeds of crime,” said Andy.
This government step is expected to reduce the negative impacts caused by online gambling and prevent the involvement of state officials in illegal activities. Support from various groups in society strengthens the government’s position to continue to crack down on online gambling, making Indonesia safer and cleaner from digital crime.
In order to strengthen supervision, the Prabowo administration plans to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of government officials who are potentially involved in illegal practices. The government emphasized that there is no place for civil servants who break the law, especially in matters that threaten public order and welfare.
This firm step is expected to be the starting point for creating a clean and authoritative government, providing a positive impact in eradicating online gambling which is detrimental to the wider community.
