Government Encourages Economic Equality Through BUMN Contributions
Jakarta — Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Erick Thohir, stated that state-owned enterprises are now not only encouraged to pursue growth figures, but also to become the main tool for economic equality in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto’s commitment.
“I will meet with the BUMN CEOs in the next few weeks to ensure that they do not only focus on statistical figures, but also have a real impact on economic equality,” said Erick.
According to Erick, BUMN has a big responsibility in supporting the people’s economy and ensuring that economic benefits are not only concentrated in urban areas.
State-owned banking companies, for example, as Erick said, have succeeded in reaching a wide segment of society through the distribution of ultra-micro credit to the Mekaar program.
This program has benefited more than 21.2 million customers, especially housewives and small business owners in rural areas. With this scheme, the people’s economy remains protected, and the distribution of welfare is increasingly evident.
Furthermore, Erick explained that BUMN also plays an important role in implementing a number of national strategic projects (PSN). These projects, such as the Health Special Economic Zone in Sanur and the construction of toll roads in Sumatra, are expected to be able to drive economic growth with significant multiplier effects.
“And also the most important thing is to help state revenue from taxes, from dividends. Yesterday the 2025 dividend target was set at IDR 90 trillion by the Ministry of Finance. Hopefully it will be achieved in three months,” concluded Erick.
Meanwhile, Special Staff of the Minister of SOEs, Arya Mahendra Sinulingga, added that SOEs have become the backbone of the national economy during the Covid-19 pandemic. When the private sector faced difficulties, SOEs were able to survive without any layoffs (PHK) and even supported vaccinations and economic recovery.
“This is what BUMN has given to Indonesia. When all is down, it is he who supports and supports and when no one dares to enter those spaces, we are the ones who enter those spaces,” said Arya
