By: Dirandra Falguni)*
Since being inaugurated as President of Indonesia, President Prabowo Subianto has immediately shown a strong commitment to facing various major threats that threaten the future of the nation, one of which is drugs. The dangers of drugs have long been a scourge that has destroyed the younger generation and disrupted social stability in Indonesia. In an effort to eradicate drugs, President Prabowo does not only rely on strict law enforcement, but also strategic breakthroughs involving various government institutions.
President Prabowo emphasized that drugs are one of the biggest threats facing Indonesia today. In his first briefing at the Presidential Palace at a cabinet meeting, he expressed his concerns about the rampant drug abuse that is spreading in various levels of society. In addition to destroying the future of the younger generation, drugs are also one of the factors that weaken the quality of Indonesia’s human resources (HR).
The Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), KH Anwar Iskandar, also supports President Prabowo’s steps in eradicating drugs. He said that drugs weaken the intelligence of society and destroy the future of the nation. Anwar hopes that under the leadership of President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran, Indonesia can soon be free from drug trafficking.
In line with that, President Prabowo immediately ordered the Chief of Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and the Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), Herindra to take firm steps in eradicating drug trafficking throughout Indonesia. President Prabowo’s commitment to eradicating drugs is not only focused on law enforcement, but also involves structural breakthroughs to strengthen coordination between government agencies.
One of the concrete steps taken by President Prabowo is the establishment of the Special Investigation and Development Control Agency. This institution has the main task of monitoring and supervising the implementation of various government programs and projects, including the eradication of narcotics. With this institution, President Prabowo Subianto hopes that supervision of drug trafficking can be more effective, fast, and integrated.
In addition, President Prabowo also strengthened the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) as one of the spearheads in ensuring the implementation of policies related to drug eradication. KSP will play a role in supervising and evaluating the results of law enforcement and ensuring that each related institution carries out its functions properly.
Prabowo Subianto’s steps in saving the nation from the dangers of drugs cannot be done alone without support from various parties, including the community and religious leaders. On various occasions, religious leaders in Indonesia, including the Chairman of the MUI KH Anwar Iskandar, have voiced the importance of eradicating drugs as part of maintaining the stability and prosperity of the nation. They fully support President Prabowo Subianto’s policy to enforce the law firmly and consistently against drug dealers and users.
The role of religious figures is very important in educating the community about the dangers of drugs. At the local level, community involvement through community-based drug prevention programs is expected to be the front line in protecting the environment from drug trafficking.
Eradication of narcotics cannot be done partially. Solid and coordinated cross-institutional collaboration is needed. President Prabowo, in the first cabinet meeting, firmly ordered coordination between the Attorney General’s Office, the National Police, the BPKP, and the BIN to handle the problems of narcotics, smuggling, online gambling, and corruption in an integrated manner. He emphasized the importance of using good intelligence and collecting strong evidence in handling narcotics cases.
This is in line with the slogan of Polri Presisi (predictive, responsible, and transparent with justice) carried by the Polri under the leadership of General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. This program is very relevant to President Prabowo’s work agenda, one of which targets strengthening legal reform and eradicating corruption and drugs.
Kompolnas Commissioner Poengky Indarti also emphasized that Polri Precision is in line with Astacita, a work program initiated by the President and Vice President. This program includes political, legal, and bureaucratic reforms, as well as strengthening the prevention and eradication of corruption and drugs.
Eradicating drugs is not only about taking firm action against the perpetrators, but also ensuring that this nation has strong human resources that are free from the negative influence of drugs. Prabowo sees that the quality of human resources is the main foundation in building an advanced Indonesia. Therefore, his government is committed to strengthening human resource development programs that focus on improving education, health, and public welfare.
President Prabowo also formed the Agency for the Acceleration of Poverty Alleviation as a step to ensure that groups in society who are vulnerable to the influence of drugs, especially from an economic perspective, receive special attention. By fighting poverty, President Prabowo hopes to reduce the potential for people to fall into the trap of drugs.
The concrete steps taken by President Prabowo in combating the dangers of drugs show his strong commitment to save the nation from destruction. With the support of various government institutions, community leaders, and religious leaders, as well as cross-sector collaboration, President Prabowo is optimistic that Indonesia can be free from the clutches of drugs.
The great hope for this nation is the creation of a young generation that is healthy, intelligent, and competitive at the global level. Eradicating drugs is not only about maintaining national stability, but also about preparing Indonesia to become a strong and prosperous country in the future. Under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, this nation has a great opportunity to realize this dream.
