By: Andi Mahesa)*The development of the Indonesian Capital City (IKN) is one of the ambitious projects launched by the Government. Under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, efforts to involve the community in the IKN development process have become one of the main focuses. Community involvement will not only accelerate development but also ensure that this project is in accordance with the needs and aspirations of the people.Community involvement is very important in the sustainability of IKN development. First, local communities have valuable local knowledge. They know the needs and expectations of local communities. By involving the community, the Government can identify problems that may not be visible from a broader perspective.Second, community participation can increase transparency and accountability. When the community is involved in the decision-making process, there is a greater chance of avoiding corrupt practices and abuse of authority. Thus, the IKN development project is expected to run more efficiently and effectively.Third, involving the community can also increase a sense of ownership of the project. When the community feels that they are part of the process, they are more likely to support and maintain the sustainability of the project. This is important for the long-term success of the IKN as the new capital of Indonesia. In order to encourage community involvement, President Prabowo has outlined several strategies. One of them is through the holding of public dialogue forums at various levels. These forums will provide space for the community to express opinions, criticisms, and suggestions related to the development of the IKN.The government also plans to conduct more intensive socialization regarding the benefits and impacts of IKN development. With better understanding, the community is expected to provide greater support. In addition, community involvement in project planning and implementation can be done through collaboration with civil society organizations and local communities. To ensure that communities can engage effectively, it is important to provide adequate education and training. The government will provide training programs aimed at increasing community capacity in various aspects of development. This includes training in project management, environmental management, and entrepreneurship. The Indonesian Capital City Authority (OIKN), in collaboration with the Samarinda Vocational and Productivity Training Center (BPVP), the East Kalimantan Regional Police, and PT Bina Sarana Multi Cipta Indonesia, is holding a Gada Pratama Satpam Training program specifically aimed at local communities in the IKN delineation area. This program is part of the IKN Authority’s efforts to involve local communities in various aspects of the development of the Indonesian Capital City, including security, as well as providing skills that are beneficial for long-term welfare. One of the implementations of this training program aims to meet the need for professional security personnel in the archipelago along with the acceleration of development. Not only that, the involvement of local communities in maintaining regional security is also an important step in reducing dependence on labor from outside the region and minimizing social and economic disparities in the regions around the archipelago. With this program, local communities are not only spectators of development, but also become active actors who play a role in maintaining order and security stability in their own regions.Director of Human Empowerment of the IKN Authority, Conrita Ermanto said that this program is part of the strategic vision of the IKN Authority to ensure direct benefits for the surrounding community. Through this program, the IKN Authority and the implementing partner of the Gada Pratama Satpam Training hope to create quality security personnel from the local community, who are not only able to maintain security in the Nusantara region but also have skills that can be applied in various sectors. With this training, the community will be better prepared to contribute to the development of the IKN. They will not only be beneficiaries, but also active actors in the process. In addition, the government will also encourage innovation and creativity in the community in finding solutions to development challenges. On the other hand, the East Kalimantan Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) is collaborating with the local young generation in the Development of the Indonesian IKN. The Head of the East Kalimantan BPPW, Rozali Indra Saputra, said that the young generation carries the milestone of change in the future of the world. This is certainly in line with the spirit of IKN development which involves the active role of the young generation.IKN is a real manifestation of Indonesia’s commitment to building a sustainable city with an environmental perspective. Therefore, according to him, the importance of collaboration and synergy from all elements of society, especially the younger generation, in realizing IKN as an ideal city.In the development of the IKN, Rozali Indra wants the application of the latest technology in waste and waste management to realize changes in people’s behavior towards a more environmentally friendly life. He hopes that the younger generation can be directly involved in the development of the IKN by implementing the green city concept and realizing the vision of Indonesia as a developed country. Thus, the Development of the Indonesian Capital City under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto is a great opportunity to create a more inclusive and sustainable capital city. Community involvement in the development process will not only increase the effectiveness of the project, but also create a sense of ownership and strengthen support from the community, and through the right strategies, the development of the capital city can also run according to expectations and provide real benefits for all Indonesian people.)* The author is a student who lives in Jakarta.
