JAKARTA — President Prabowo has shown a strong commitment to strengthening Papua’s economy by encouraging sustainable development and local innovation.

Through an approach focused on human resource empowerment and community-based economic development, the Head of State aims to create a Papua that is independent, prosperous and competitive at the national level.

Minister of Transmigration, Muhammad Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanegara, stated that development efforts in Papua are not only limited to population movement from Java to Papua, but also through local transmigration.

“Transmigration in Papua can be carried out between regions within Papua itself, so that people remain in their homeland but are closer to various economic facilities,” said Iftitah.

Iftitah also emphasized that her ministry will focus on revitalizing 10 transmigration areas in Papua and Kalimantan, in order to maximize local economic potential.

Acting Governor of Southwest Papua, Mohammad Musa’ad, appreciated the sustainable development program, while hoping that the effort could improve social harmony and support the economy of the people in Papua.

Musa’ad believes that innovation in development approaches can be a symbol of regeneration and new hope for Papua.

“The inauguration of the new management is not just a ceremony, but a symbol of regeneration. Their task is to be a beacon of hope, inspire the younger generation, and prove that diversity is strength,” said Musa’ad,

He emphasized that the trust placed in local leaders is a big responsibility to maintain the social values that have been embedded.

Support for local economic innovation also came from CELIOS Digital Economy Director, Nailul Huda, who assessed that digital technology plays an important role in strengthening the Papuan economy.

“The integration of digital technology opens up great opportunities for MSMEs in Papua to connect with a wider market, so that the economy can develop more effectively,” explained Nailul.

According to him, digitalization is one of the concrete steps in strengthening the economic foundations of Bumi Cenderawasih by utilizing technological innovation to overcome geographical constraints.

Through various programs such as local transmigration, market revitalization, and digital technology integration, the eighth President of the Republic of Indonesia hopes that Papua can become a region that is more economically strong, prosperous, and competitive.
