President Prabowo Accelerates Development of IKN to Accelerate Equitable Development
Jakarta – The development of the Indonesian Capital City (IKN) continues to be pursued to support the acceleration of equitable development in Indonesia. The Head of the Indonesian Capital City Authority (OIKN), Basuki Hadimuljono, revealed that the completion of the main infrastructure including the executive, legislative, and judicial ecosystems along with other facilities and infrastructure is targeted to be completed in 2028. This target is a direct directive from President Prabowo Subianto.
“President Prabowo’s direction is for the completion of the IKN development to be carried out in stages, namely in 2025 and 2028,” said Basuki.
In the initial stage, Basuki explained that his party had coordinated with the Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment (PAN) regarding the initial relocation plan for the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) in 2025. “If this relocation is carried out, we ensure that the initial ecosystem in the IKN is ready in 2025. Meanwhile, the completion of the construction of government buildings for the executive, legislative, and judiciary is targeted for completion in 2028,” he added.
On the same occasion, Basuki also conveyed the development of investment in the IKN. He said that several business entities have expressed interest and are preparing to carry out the groundbreaking process for development projects. However, this plan is still awaiting President Prabowo’s approval.
“Yesterday, there were actually some that were ready for groundbreaking, but we had to report to the President first. In addition, he also ensured that the progress of the physical and non-physical development of the IKN until November will continue to be monitored and reported periodically,” explained Basuki.
Deputy for Funding and Investment of OIKN, Agung Wicaksono, added that until now his party has received more than 500 letters of investment interest (Letter of Intent/LoI). “The most important thing is the LoI that is intended for real investment. We prioritize submissions that will clearly be realized,” he said.
This investment interest does not only come from business entities that want to invest in the IKN, but also from vendors or contractors who offer their services. This shows the high enthusiasm of various parties to support the development of the IKN as a symbol of equitable national development.
With this step, President Prabowo is optimistic that the acceleration of the development of the IKN can be a catalyst for creating a balance of development between the western and eastern regions of Indonesia.
