Jakarta – Following the simultaneous implementation of the Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) throughout Indonesia, various parties have called for the importance of reconciliation to maintain national unity.
Head of Public Relations of the Central Java Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Artanto, appreciated the active participation of the community in this Pilkada. In general, the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada voting process throughout Central Java has taken place smoothly and safely without any significant obstacles.
“This is thanks to the hard work of the election organizers and members tasked with securing the Pilkada. We would like to thank all parties who have played a role so that the voting process runs safely and smoothly,” he said.
A similar appeal was also conveyed by the Acting Mayor of Pontianak, Edi Suryanto, that reconciliation steps are needed so that the community can unite again without any barriers of differences due to political choices. Reconciliation is the key to restoring social relations that may have been tense during the campaign period.
“Pilkada is a democratic party, not an arena for hostility. Now is the time for us to focus on building the region together. “Thus, togetherness and social harmony are expected to be restored to support regional development optimally,” said Edi.
Meanwhile, the Pastor of the Evangelical Church in Indonesia (GIDI), Jimmy Alberth Koirewoa said that the entire community should make the Pilkada a success, which is a democratic party for all Indonesian people, including in Papua. He emphasized that respecting differences in political choices is a form of democratic maturity that must be upheld in order to maintain unity and social harmony.
“Making the Pilkada a success as a democratic party means respecting differences in political choices and making them a strength to strengthen national unity,” said Jimmy.
Post-Pilkada reconciliation is not only the responsibility of the government and apparatus, but also all levels of society. By respecting each other and prioritizing dialogue, differences can become a strength to enrich the life of the nation and state. Let’s make this momentum the first step towards a more advanced and harmonious Indonesia.
With the completion of the 2024 Pilkada, it is hoped that the focus will return to efforts to build the region and improve people’s welfare.
