Synergy between Government and Various Parties Ensures Smooth and Peaceful Christmas and New Year
Jakarta – PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk together with the Ministry of SOEs, the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps, and related partners have prepared strategic steps to ensure smooth and comfortable travel during the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year (Nataru) holidays. With a significant projected surge in vehicles, various anticipatory steps have been prepared to ensure the safety and comfort of toll road users.
Jasa Marga President Director, Subakti Syukur, conveyed various steps that have been prepared to ensure optimal toll road operations.
“We ensure that toll road operations are in prime condition, comply with minimum service standards (SPM), including handling potential flooding or road damage due to extreme weather, as well as preparing new toll road sections that can be used,” explained Subakti.
As an anticipatory measure, Jasa Marga has projected that the volume of vehicles will increase during the peak period of outbound and return flows. To overcome potential congestion, traffic engineering such as contraflow and oneway will be implemented, the implementation of which refers to the Joint Decree (SKB) signed on December 6, 2024.
Several new toll roads will also be operated operationally and functionally, including the Kartasura-Klaten segment on the Jogja-Solo Toll Road, which is 22.3 kilometers long, and the Gending-Kraksaan segment on the Probolinggo-Banyuwangi Toll Road, which is 10.3 kilometers long.
In addition, Jasa Marga is increasing road capacity at several strategic points to support smooth traffic flow. The addition of lanes was carried out on the Palikanci, Jagorawi, and Padaleunyi Toll Roads, while the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate now has 36 transaction lanes after the addition of five new lanes. This increase in capacity is expected to reduce vehicle queues that often occur during the peak of the homecoming and return flows.
Subakti also appealed to the public to plan their trips well, avoid traveling during peak traffic times, ensure that their electronic card balance is sufficient, and rest at rest areas if they feel tired.
“We also remind road users to prepare their vehicles so that the journey remains safe and comfortable,” he added.
Jasa Marga collaborates with the National Police Traffic Corps to ensure smooth operations and safety for road users. Inspector General Aan Suhanan from the National Police Traffic Corps highlighted the increase in public movement during the holidays, predicted to reach 110 million people, an increase of 2.8% compared to last year.
Meanwhile, Special Staff of the Ministry of SOEs, Arya Sinulingga, expressed his appreciation for the synergy of various parties in preparing for the Christmas and New Year holidays.
“We hope that this strategy will not only create comfort for road users, but also become a real form of BUMN’s contribution to the nation,” he said.
On the other hand, support from the private sector also strengthens the smoothness of travel. Lion Air Group through the BookCabin application offers innovative services, including BookCabin Ambassadors who are present at major airports to assist customers in the check-in process until departure.
“BookCabin also launched the CabinClub loyalty program which provides various benefits, such as discounts on airline tickets, additional points, and free upgrades to business class,” explained Head of Communications BookCabin, Deasy Rasjid.
With the synergy of the government, BUMN, and the private sector, the implementation of Nataru 2024 is expected to run smoothly and comfortably, creating a better travel experience for the community. ><
