Smooth Christmas and New Year Holidays Proof of Implementation of Tolerance Values in Society
JAKARTA – The government together with various related parties have prepared strategic steps to deal with the surge in vehicles during the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year (Nataru) holidays. Collaboration involving the Ministry of SOEs, the National Police Traffic Corps, Jasa Marga, and various other parties is key to creating smooth travel for the community. This effort also reflects the values of tolerance, mutual support, and good cooperation in the community.
Jasa Marga President Director, Subakti Syukur, explained that the company has made various preparations to anticipate the increase in vehicle flow during the Christmas and New Year holidays. “We ensure that toll road operations are in prime condition, comply with minimum service standards (SPM), including handling potential puddles or road damage due to extreme weather, and preparing new toll road sections that can be used,” said Subakti in a written statement.
As part of its operational strategy, Jasa Marga projects vehicle volumes approaching the peak of the outbound flow to the return flow and prepares various traffic engineering according to the Police’s discretion to anticipate potential congestion. Traffic engineering includes contraflow on the Jakarta-Cikampek and Jagorawi toll roads and the implementation of a one-way system in accordance with the Joint Decree (SKB) signed on December 6, 2024.
In addition, the Government plans to operate a number of new toll roads both operationally and functionally, as well as increase road capacity at several strategic points to support smooth traffic during the Christmas and New Year holidays. This step aims to create a comfortable journey for the community.
Subakti Syukur also appealed to road users to avoid traveling during peak traffic, prepare their vehicles well, ensure sufficient electronic card balances, and rest at rest areas if tired. This appeal is expected to help road users plan their trips better.
Special Staff of the Ministry of SOEs, Arya Sinulingga, expressed full support for the strategic steps that have been prepared by SOEs. “SOE companies have shown extraordinary commitment in providing the best service to the community, especially during the end-of-year holidays. Intensive collaboration with various parties is the key to success in ensuring the smoothness of people’s travel,” said Arya.
Meanwhile, the police have ensured their commitment to smooth operations for road users. Inspector General Aan Suhanan from the Traffic Corps of the Indonesian National Police highlighted the increase in public movement during the Nataru holiday, which is predicted to reach 110 million people, an increase of 2.8% compared to last year. With thorough preparation, the Indonesian National Police together with related parties are committed to ensuring smooth operations and safety for road users.
