JAKARTA – Delegates from member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expressed high appreciation for the successful organization of the 19th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC), held in Jakarta from May 12–15, 2025. The conference was marked by a warm atmosphere and a strong spirit of solidarity throughout its sessions.
Adama Bictogo, Speaker of the National Assembly of Côte d’Ivoire and former PUIC President, personally conveyed his gratitude to Indonesia for the warm hospitality extended to all participants during the event.
“With heartfelt emotion and joy, I extend my sincere thanks to Indonesia for the warm welcome and hospitality we received here in Jakarta. The organization of this conference reflects Indonesia’s deep commitment to strengthening solidarity among OIC member states,” Adama said in his official address.
The conference also coincided with the 25th anniversary of the PUIC, which Adama described as “a strong platform for fostering dialogue, solidarity, and parliamentary cooperation across the Islamic world.”
In addition to his appreciation of the host country, Adama highlighted the importance of collective commitment in addressing global challenges. He reaffirmed the significance of the Abidjan Declaration, issued at the 18th PUIC Conference, which called for solidarity in the face of global conflicts, climate change, terrorism, and oppression against Muslims — including the continued struggle for Palestine.
“Through this conference, we once again reaffirm our commitment to the Palestinian cause, to the values of justice and peace, and to the rejection of injustice and all forms of oppression,” he stated firmly.
Meanwhile, Irine Yusiana Roba, Vice Chair of the Committee for Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation (BKSAP) of the Indonesian House of Representatives, noted that the delegates warmly welcomed the attendance of President Prabowo Subianto at the conference’s opening ceremony.
“All 444 delegates expressed their great honor and appreciation for the presence of the President of the Republic of Indonesia at the official inauguration,” she said.
The 19th PUIC Conference was attended by around 500 participants from 37 OIC member and observer countries. Indonesia was widely praised for demonstrating strong regional leadership in parliamentary diplomacy.
