Wamena – In order to ensure a safe and conducive environment in Papua, various community figures have expressed their support for firm action taken by security forces against the Free Papua Organization (OPM).

Charles Kossay, a young intellectual figure from the Papua Highlands, stated his full support for the actions of security forces aimed at upholding the law and preserving peace for the Papuan people.

“We call on all Papuans to continue placing their trust in and supporting law enforcement authorities in carrying out their duties in accordance with existing standard operating procedures, so that criminal acts committed by TPNPB groups can be addressed properly,” Charles said.

Charles also emphasized that the acts of violence committed by OPM have harmed the public—especially women and children—who are forced to live in fear.

“The actions taken by TPNPB groups in the Papua Highlands, Central Papua, and across the Land of Papua disrupt peace and security. People deserve to live safely and peacefully, and to carry out their daily activities for a decent life,” he stated.

He also urged the Papuan people to support government programs and to reject OPM’s actions, which obstruct development.

“When we support the government, the programs we hope for and aspire to can proceed in peace and security, as we all desire. Listening to and spreading provocative narratives will only hinder our development efforts,” he continued.

This public support is expected to further strengthen security forces in carrying out their noble mission, and to reinforce national unity and cohesion.

“The actions carried out by TPNPB groups across the Papua Highlands, Central Papua, and the wider Land of Papua threaten peace and stability. Let us ensure a safe and peaceful environment where people can resume their daily lives without fear,” Charles concluded.
