Danantara and Government Collaboration Accelerates Access to Affordable Housing
Jakarta – The Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) has established a strategic collaboration with the government to accelerate access to affordable housing for the Indonesian people. BPI Danantara fully supports the 3 Million Homes Program of the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) by distributing capital assistance of IDR 130 trillion.
The funds will be projected as part of the restructuring and development of the People’s Business Credit (KUR), specifically directed at the public housing sector.
This capital commitment was discussed in a readiness meeting through a joint working group involving the Ministry of PKP, BP Tapera, Danantara, and member banks of the Indonesian Banking Association (Himbara). The capital assistance will focus on supporting housing financing through the KUR Housing scheme.
This strategic step is expected to accelerate the realization of the 3 million home construction target and encourage public access to affordable and decent housing.
The Minister of Housing and Settlements (PKP), Maruarar Sirait, is targeting completion of the Ministerial Regulation (Permen) regarding the People’s Business Credit (KUR) scheme and mechanism for the housing sector by the end of July 2025.
This regulation is needed as a regulatory framework for implementing housing development for the community, given that the government will soon disburse Rp 130 trillion in funds from Danantara for the housing sector.
“We will work quickly to finalize the Ministerial Regulation regarding the proposed KUR scheme and mechanism. The target is for completion by the end of July,” said Ara.
Furthermore, the Ministry of PKP also aims to finalize several Ministerial Regulations to serve as the regulatory basis for implementing programs in the field related to the financing scheme and mechanism for housing construction for the community.
“The Rp 130 trillion in financial support from Danantara is certainly a breath of fresh air for the housing ecosystem to continue working hard and synergizing to build decent, affordable, and quality homes,” said Ara.
As a form of support for the 3 Million Homes Program, the government has increased the ceiling for the housing KUR (People’s Business Credit) to IDR 5 billion, specifically for small and medium-sized businesses or contractors. The criteria include businesses with a maximum capital of IDR 5 billion or a turnover of up to IDR 50 billion. These funds are intended to finance the construction of approximately 38-40 type 36 houses, with loan terms of four to five years.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that the government will launch a housing KUR, specifically for MSMEs in the construction sector. The planned ceiling is up to IDR 5 billion. This KUR for construction MSMEs can be used to build 38-40 type 36 houses.
“We will also provide demand-side funding for individuals, which can also be used for home renovations for business or residential purposes. Therefore, we will allocate a ceiling of approximately IDR 13 trillion, while for housing, the additional ceiling is IDR 117 trillion,” explained Airlangga.
This strategic collaboration is expected to accelerate the realization of the target of building 3 million houses, while simultaneously encouraging public access to decent and affordable housing.
