Towards a Fair and Open Re-Voting

Jakarta – The revote (PSU) for the North Barito Regency regional election will be held on August 6, 2025, as a follow-up to the Constitutional Court’s ruling. Election organizers at all levels are urged to ensure the process is transparent, orderly, and in accordance with legal principles.

The Head of the Technical Division of the Indonesian General Elections Commission (KPU RI), Idham Holik, stated that the PSU is not merely a technical implementation, but a concrete form of constitutional responsibility.

“PSU is mandated by law and part of maintaining election integrity. This is not only the responsibility of the district KPU, but also the crucial role of the provincial KPU and the Indonesian KPU as the final responsible bodies,” he said at the opening of the Training of Trainers in Muara Teweh, Central Kalimantan.

He emphasized that the principles of justice and openness in the PSU can only be achieved if all stages are carried out with full commitment.

“We are present directly to ensure the process runs smoothly. This responsibility cannot be shared, but must be shared,” said Idham.

Similarly, the Chairperson of the North Barito KPU, Central Kalimantan, Siska Dewi Lestari asked all organizers at the village and sub-district levels to actively conduct outreach.

“The PPK and PPS must explain to the public that the revote is a constitutionally valid process. We must avoid misunderstandings in the field,” said Siska.

Siska believes that openness of information is key to maintaining voter participation and trust.

“We don’t want the public to be confused or misunderstanding. We must provide an explanation from the start to avoid controversy,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Central Kalimantan Governor Agustiar Sabran also expressed his full support for the PSU. Collaboration is key to realizing the regional development vision in Central Kalimantan.

“We fully support the fair and safe conduct of this PSU. All parties must ensure the process is fully prepared,” he said.

In a joint coordination meeting, Agustiar also requested and invited members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), and community leaders to help maintain order on the ground. This revote is not simply a re-election process, but a reflection of the maturity of our democracy.

“The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) must ensure that the public can vote safely. Let’s invite all parties to participate. Even if our choices differ, unity must be maintained,” he concluded.

With comprehensive support, the North Barito PSU is expected to become an example of election implementation that upholds fairness and openness.
